View Full Version : Mezzmo 5.2 missing thumbnails

Hi to all,

I've been happily using Mezzmo since version 2.x, now running 5.2, and will probably upgrade to 6.x soon. However, two things have suddenly occurred:

1. All thumbnails and backdrops no longer display on any device. They are still in the database, and they display when editing records, but that's the only time they're visible.

2. Mezzmo client (Mezzmo.exe) is crashing a lot while editing movie records. I've attached the latest crash dump file.

Both of these appear to have started while I was attempting to fix another (subtitle display) problem, during which I made a number of configuration changes, all of which I believe I've undone.

All help appreciated. Thanks.

Best,

Can you please enable diagnostic logging http://www.mezzmo.com/wiki/doku.php?id=using_logging&s[]=diagnostic and then after restarting your Mezzmo media server try browsing a device that does not display thumbnails then send us the logs so we can investigate further.

Looks like an error trying to create the transcoding folder:

ERROR> C74 CreateFolder(4095): D:\
35444 - Mar 16 19:25:26.101 [ThreadID:0c74] - [0C74] ERROR> CreateArtworkFile: CANNOT CREATE IMAGE! LeadTools error: -14 (D:\users\Griffith\Conceiva\Mezzmo\TranscodingFile s\FC48307A-A89E-41b5-84CB-7563AC8C4CDA\Poster\293902-jpeg-320-320-24.mzt)

Does D:\ drive no longer exist? Try going into Mezzmo and select Transcoding Settings then change the transcoding folder to another location.

Dear Peter,

Thanks to your advice, the problem has been fixed - but not entirely solved.

The folder "D:\users\Griffith\Conceiva\Mezzmo\TranscodingFiles" has been the designated temporary transcoding folder for years, still exists, has plenty of free space and the file permissions have not changed. I changed the the temporary transcoding folder to a newly created "C:\temp\Mezzmo\TranscodingFiles" folder and it works. I changed it back and the problem resurfaced. I checked the file permissions on the new folder and replicated them on the old folder and...nothing. I've changed the config back and forth several times with different tweaks, and the new folder always works and the old folder doesn't.

I have no explanation for this behavior. Maybe we now need "social distancing" between the database and temp folders! At this point I'm just satisfied it works again. Thanks a lot.

Best,

Joe

Glad to hear it is working again. In the log Mezzmo was trying to create D:\ so this indicates there is some problem where Mezzmo is detecting that the path right up to the drive letter does not exist. Are you able to create files on this drive using other programs such as notepad to create a file and save it to D:\?

Dear Peter,

Your last message gave me an idea. I deleted the folder on D: and created it from the "Transcoding Settings..." menu and it works properly again. The D: drive has much more free space so I much prefer it. Everything appears back to normal again. Thanks again and stay COVID-19 free.

Best,

Joe
