Last night I tried to run the Mezzmo app on a Ruko 3 (4200X) and it did not work. When running the app it will display the Mezzmo starting icon for about 2 seconds and then drops back to the Roku home screen. This is repeatable. In trying to debug this I have:
1) restarted the Mezzmo server and PC
2) restarted the Roku box
3) removed the Mezzmo app and reinstalled it

Other points are
1) The two LG smart TVs can find and play off the Mezzmo server
2) The Roku TV (Cheap BestBuy TV) can find and play off the Mezzmo server
3) I have been running the Roku 3 for years without any issues

I did look and there was a software update to the Roku 3 box on April 15, 2020. Version 9.3.0 build 4118. So far this update to the Roku 3 looks to be the I only thing I can find that has caused this problem.

Note: I just hooked up an used Roku 3 to the same system with software version 9.2 and that still has no problem running the Mezzmo app.

Can you please try installing the Mezzmo beta channel to see if this works https://my.roku.com/add/MezzmoBeta

Unfortunately, Mezzmo Beta version 1.6 build 3, as downloaded per link (https://my.roku.com/add/MezzmoBeta) exhibits the same behavior as the standard Mezzmo release on Roku, version 1.4 build 8. In short terms, the Roku 3 still does not work with Mezzmo.

Are you able to use the Roku Streaming media app on the Roku to connect to Mezzmo and stream files? Our Roku 3 is not currently working so we cannot test the issue (the power supply is not working).

I installed the "Roku Media Player" and it does connect to the Mezzmo server and is does stream files (tested two movie files).
Note, I also looked at my Roku TV and it is still on version 9.2, the older version. So it looks like this version 9.3 is being slowly updated among the Roku series, which is not a big surprise.
I am open to more debugging where possible.

We have purchased a replacement power supply for our Roku 3 so hopefully we will be able to reproduce the issue when it arrives. When we are able to reproduce the issue we will update the beta and let you know.

As of yesterday 4/23/20 The Mezzmo App on our Roku Ultra has also stopped working. It does work on the older model Roku in the bedroom, but NOT on the Roku Ultra.
I did deleted the cache on the Roku (and restarted) = No effect - No Fix
Then I deleted and reinstalled = No effect - No Fix
Then I reinstalled the Beta version = No effect - No Fix

While the Roku Media app does work on some video - poorly on some videos and not at all on others (I am sure it is an encoding issue).
Hopefully you can get the Roku Mezzmo app updated & working, it really does work So Well! Thanks!

It's the latest Roku update. Version 9.3.0. It breaks both the Mezzmo beta and the Mezzmo release apps. They changed something with the Roku Media Player in the 9.3.0 update.

It's broken for me too, but the Roku Media Player by itself works.

Thanks for the information. We will do our own testing in the next few days (after we get our Roku 3 back up and running) and try to resolve the issue. We'll post back here with our findings.

I'm not sure if the Roku 3 is new enough to get the new 9.3.0 update.

A user who emailed support said they had several Roku 3 devices, one with version 9.5 firmware which broke the app so hopefully the Roku 3 we have will be able to produce the problem.

Roku OS 9.5 isn't out. The latest is 9.3.0.

Have I mentioned how badly the built-in Roku DLNA app sucks? heheheh

Roku just released a minor minor update from 9.3.0.4132 to 9.3.0.4138. Did not fix the Mezzmo issue with either the beta or the release.

*sigh* Is there any logging that I can turn on to send you to speed the process up?

We got our power supply now but the Roku just blinks its white led light and does not show anything on the TV. Tried pressing the reset button on the Roku but no joy.

You could try downgrading the firmware by pressing Home 5 times, FF 3 times, Rewind twice then Choose Update Software to see if this downgrades the firmware to the previous version.

You could try seeing if there are any logs from the Roku by connecting via telnet. Replace roku-ip-address with the ip address of your Roku and run the following from the Windows run prompt:

telnet roku-ip-address 8085

Having issues with the Mezzmo app on Roku as well, my Roku updated to 9.3 during the afternoon and this evening I just tried connecting to the app and it keeps exiting right away. Hopefully there's an update to the app soon that corrects the problem.

I have three Roku Ultras. It doesn't let me telnet to any of them on that port. I downloaded to 9.2.0.4807, which also downloads the Roku app. That DOES allow Mezzmo to play, so it's definitely an issue with the 9.3.0 upgrade, and the upgrade of the apps, specifically the Roku Streaming app, along with it.

The downside is now it won't let me re-update back to 9.3.0.

Looks like a function used in a library in the app may be causing the problem. https://developer.roku.com/docs/developer-program/release-notes/roku-os-release-notes.md The eval() function is no longer supported and the Mezzmo app has this in a supporting library. We cannot package the app for upload because this requires our Roku device to be working but if you email support [at] conceiva [dot] com we can send you the app to side load onto your Roku.

Color the e-mail sent. Now I just need to figure out how to re-update this one (of my three) Roku Ultras back up to 9.3.0 from 9.2.0.

We have the same problem. The Roku Ultra box was working fine on Monday, May 4th. Today no joy. The Mezzmo app displays the Mezzmo Logo for about 1 sec and then returns to the Roku home page.
Tried restarting the Mezzmo Media Server, the computer, the network, (we have a wired connection), the modem/router, deleted/added the Mezzmo app, added the Mezzmo Beta app al with no joy.
The Roku Media Player app will connect to the Mezzmo Server and stream video from the playlists we selected.

I have also requested the app to be emailed.

Ok I just enabled developer mode, uploaded the mezzmo roku app to sideload onto my device and tried it out. It works so I look forward to seeing the official app uploaded by the Mezzmo developers so I can disable the developer mode on my device. Thanks Peter!

Thanks for the confirmation, we will upload the official app as soon as we can get our Roku working.

we have just updated our Roku Channel in the past few minutes, it will take some time for Roku to approve and publish the update. Until then you can access our beta channel https://my.roku.com/add/MezzmoBeta

I just added the beta channel, which shows version 1.6 Build 3 and it's doing pretty much the same thing as the main channel. I click on it and it pretty much automatically goes back to the home screen.

The developer version that you sent me the link to install on my roku, which works, is 1.6 Build 4.

I missed pressing the publish button on the beta as it was scrolled off screen, it is now published and should work better. The Main Mezzmo Roku channel has been approved by Roku now so you can try it to see if the update fixes the issue.

It does. I am using it as we speak.
