I recently changed my ISP and purchased a new Netgear router/cable modem (AC1600). When I try to play a video on my PS4 using Media Player, if I select a video from a playlist created from a drive (WD MyCloud) directory -- e.g. mycloud://Public/HighQ/ or mycloud://Public/LowQ/ -- the videos will play. But, when I try to play a video from a playlist created based on an arbitrary metadata aspect (field in videos' property) -- e.g. genre = Comedy, or Studio = Paramount -- the PS4 Media Player spins for some seconds then says 'Can't Play video' (or some similar type message) and then the entry in the list greys out. The entries in both types of lists will display an image of the video, so I know the PS4 is correctly locating the video on the drive (or at least the correct Mezzmo entry, and Mezzmo has obtained an image from the video when it added the video to the created playlist.)

The Mezzmo service (not console) is identified and running in Netgear as Upnp.

Any idea of a solution?

Possibly the path to the files in the playlist are now incorrect. Please run Maintain Library and check the box to remove files from the library that cannot be located on disk and this should remove any files where the path is incorrect.

I don't think that is the issue. My MyCloud drive is a network drive -- it's not even assigned a drive letter. The paths on the drive haven't changed.

More information; with the new Netgear box, it takes my PS4 much longer to even recognize the Mezzmo service (think from seconds to minutes in some cases). I did as Peter suggested and refreshed one of the created playlist -- didn't seem to make any difference. I also thought maybe it's a transcoding issue -- even though I processed the vids into a native (PS3/)PS4 format (.mpg[xvid/aac]) -- so I (forced) transcoded the files in the same playlist I refreshed. Mostly no changed -- one of the vids played, but after PS4 Media Player went spinning for about a minute. I also noted that going into any playlist will take some minutes for all of the files to even list, and even more minutes for the sample vid pictures to display.

I'm thinking this is a timing issue -- for some reason it's taking Mezzmo much longer to serve the information through the Netgear box to my PS4, and the PS4 is timing out, then coming back with a 'Cannot play the media' error. If I sit on a playlist long enough (> 3 minutes), the files will eventually be recognize and maybe a vid will play, but if I go from that playlist to another and then back to the original playlist, I essentially have to wait another 3+ minutes before trying to play a vid.

Please check your router settings http://www.mezzmo.com/wiki/doku.php?id=mezzmo_server_not_listed_on_device#you r_router_s_settings and also make sure your network card is set to Full Duplex http://www.mezzmo.com/wiki/doku.php?id=reduce_video_stuttering#your_home_netw ork

I figured it out. I had turned off the Automatic Transcoding because my PS3 didn't need it. Since I had gotten new ISP and the new Netgear cable modem, I haven't been using the PS3, only the PS4, when the last time I had used the PS4 before changing ISP and getting new cable modem, I had Automatic Transcoding turned on. Apparently, the PS4 does not have a problem with files referenced in a created playlist based on a drive path (e.g. mycloud://public/highq/comedy/), but does have a problem with a created playlist based on a file property field (e.g. contributing artist, year, genre, or publisher aka production studio), or a Mezzo video property (e.g. Category, Genre, Actor or Production Company).

Now that I have Automatic Trancoding turned back on, the vids are playing. The PS4 is still slow to recognize the Mezzmo service (>1 or 2 minutes), but once it does, there appears to be only a slight delay before pushing Play and a vid playing -- the transcoding needs to process the vid for the PS4.
