I'm using Roku Media Player to play .wma files from Mezzmo and that requires transcoding. I'm new at this, but I understand that Mezzmo will use transcoding to translate the .wma format to some format that the Roku Media Program can process. I've read through the Mezzmo info and see all the formats that Mezzmo can read and can transcode to. What I don't understand is: in the case I mentioned, what format are the .wma files being translated to? Does it use another lossless format? How does Mezzmo know what to translate to? There must be something in the request from RMP that tells Mezzmo what the player can handle??

Unfortunately the players don't tell Mezzmo what formats they support. We use device profiles that we have built from testing different formats to see if they play. There are a few Roku device profiles and wma files will be played natively without transcoding when using these profiles.
