Folder Icons and File Frames gone after restore

Hi all. I found a related thread (http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/10170-Strange-Problem-After-Mezzmo-System-Rebuild?highlight=folder) but did not understand completely.

All videos are on a NAS. Folder icons are also on the NAS. Made a database backup with the old PC. Bought another Mezzmo license, installed Mezzmo on new Intel NUC. Restored the database to the Mezzmo instance on the NUC.
I would think that having all media and folder icons (and individual file selections of a frame for its icon) on the NAS, and both old PC and NUC pointing to the identical paths (same letters for every drive), that the database would reappear fine.

But the folder icons and file icons (some external JPEGs, some selected from frames in the video - a cool too, BTW) did not reappear.

Note also: when installing Mezzmo on both old PC and the NUC, it was a "base" install - did not change any path names.

Should I have the database on the NAS as well? All paths are identical - the files play ok, playlists came over fine, folders themselves came over fine, just the artwork/folder icons are missing.

Hi,
can you please check in the Database folder on the old PC (see Options for the location) to see if there are jpeg files in the Artwork folder? There will be a Poster and a Backdrop folder and the jpeg files should be in there. Sometimes the Artwork folder does not get added to the database backup if there are long path names but you can copy it manually from the old PC.

Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately, not fixed yet.
1) I checked the Artwork folders: the old PC's DB has *many* files in Poster and Backdrop subfolders.
The backup DB (stored on the NAS) and the restored DB (on the new PC) have the same number of files.
So it would appear that the files are being backed up and restored... but the path is somehow an issue?
2) Based on your "long path" comment, I moved the DB on Mezzmo instance (old PC) to C:\Mezzmo_DB Then I backed up this old PC DB. This updates the artwork pointers, right?
Then I moved the DB on the Mezzmo instance (new PC) to C:\Mezzmo_DB So this instance should now expect the same file paths, right?
Then I restored the DB (from old PC) onto the new PC. Same DB location on the PC, same path names for the drives on the NAS.

On the new Mezzmo PC, the FOLDER artwork now appears. Depending on the playlists I checked, 30% - 80% of the artwork for the individual files is appearing. (The ones not appearing might have too-long path still ?) So this is still an issue.

On the new PC, I can play all files no problem... but on my Android Shield, I get "Sorry, this video cannot be played" for every file (MKV and MP4). And the photos are gone. I double checked, and the SHIELD that appears in the Media list as (Android).

Sorry that I seemed to make it worse, but I thought that made sense. Advice to get back to normal? Thanks,

You may need to add permissions for your Mezzmo server to access the files on your new PC http://www.mezzmo.com/wiki/doku.php?id=access_permissions

Peter - thanks again for the quick response.

1) The "Sorry, this video cannot be played" issue is fixed. I re-entered the credentials (NAS), and it appears everything is playing fine. THANKS.

2) As you suggested, I checked the Artwork subfolders, and the files appear to all be there (on the old PC DB folders, backed up DB folders, and new PC/restored DB folders too)
But there are still files where the artwork in not showing. I checked the old PC, and all the files are showing artwork there, so the "source DB" seems fine. Was it an artifact of the backup process not being able to handle the longest path names?
Any suggestions? If I go back to the old PC and move the DB to C:\Mez I can I "get" another few characters and maybe a few more files with artwork... then backup the DB again and restore to the new PC on C:\Mez ?

You could try shortening the path to the db on the new PC to see if this helps. The full path to the image files is stored in the db and is only updated when you use the Field in Options in Mezzmo to change the path of the db. You could also try right-clicking on the files on the old PC and select to export metadata and this will write the poster files to the disk alongside the video files so that you can maintain the files on the new PC and restore the poster.
