I recently downloaded the trial to run on my Windows Home Server. I am testing it out with my Samsung 6500 Series LED TV. I am able to get tv shows to stream however I have some movies that are in ISO format either blue-ray or DVD ISO files.

Can someone shead some light on me if i need to convert the DVD's or Blue Rays to MKV files or AVI's? vs just disc images?

Thanks

Mezzmo does not support ISO files at the moment, but if you convert your files to MKVs, for example, they should play then.

Will Mezzmo ever support .ISO movie files? I currently have 10-15 .ISO files and it'd be a great feature for a future release! Converting to mkv takes a long time :( Plus .ISO files have the DVD chapters, etc.

I'm not sure if the device would have to natively support the file type or not. I'm currently using Mezzmo with my XBOX 360 Slim.

I am not aware of any device that supports ISO files over DLNA, so most probably ISO files, when they'll be supported, will need to be re-transcoded somehow. Most probably that'll mean dropping the menu structure and such.

.iso are not DLNA certified because most large companies IE SONY believe .isos to be a direct copy of the material. Since they are one of the largest dvd/br producers, they are going to try to slow down "illegal" actions (which .isos are a huge part of) as much as they can.

The biggest problem from a DLNA-point-of-view is that DLNA devices are single file-based, which means that they want a listing of files that can be played. In case of an ISO image, this means the image has to be presented as one single file that will need to be parsed, extracted and transcoded when a device requests it. There's no provision for menus or extra tracks or anything like that.
