** sorry about the typo... topic should be (Windows recorded TV) **

The website doesn't list this format but thought I'd check just in case... Any chance Mezzmo supports this format and/or can transcode to other formats?

The formats page on the website is out of date. I am playing DVR-MS with no problems.

On what device (and profile) and with or without transcoding enabled?

I've tried the following file on both my Samsung BD-C5500 (device profile: Samsung BDP) and Samsung LN46C600 (device profile: Samsung C) without any luck. Transcoding is turned on.

You need transcoding turned on - I don't think any device can play DVR-MS natively (maybe the XBox can?). We've also added support for WTV and that'll be available with the next minor update.

It appears that FFmpeg is not recognizing the audio stream in that file - can you please upload this file to a site like www.megaupload.com so that we could check it here using the latest FFmpeg build?

It's 2GB. I'll record a smaller file later today.

*** here's a smaller file (120MB) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=FPVMINDG. It was recorded on the same Win Vista Media Center PC. FFmpeg attributes are same as larger file. I also ran a tool called MediaInfo against the files to see if it recognized the audio streams. It recognized it as MPEG audion. The MediaInfo data is pasted below.

Thank you for the files. I've checked them here and they're not recognized with a later build of FFmpeg either. I'll be making a new build later today and I'll re-test it some more. Unfortunately until FFmpeg developers fix this, we cannot process such files.

Is there any way to change the audio recording format?

I don't know of anyway to change audio formats. It was recorded on a mid range HP desktop using Windows Media Center on Windows Vista Home. I'm surprised that it wouldn't be something special. I'll check some other forums and see what I can find out.

Is there anyway that I can force Mezzmo to try and decode these DVR-MS files as MPEG audio?

We'll do some tests here recording as well and see if we can find any settings or codec configurations that can be used to tweak this. Mezzmo will try to transcode those files, but since FFmpeg does not recognize the stream, it doesn't proceed and there's no way for us to tell FFmpeg that it's an MPEG audio stream (as far as I know).

So far haven't found away to change my encoding format. Did come across this version of ffmpeg (http://babgvant.com/files/folders/misc/entry3716.aspx?) which was created specifically to read DVR-MS files and MUX them into MPG containers. Could this be used by Mezzmo?

Paul

No, that build of FFmpeg is really outdated (it's built in 2007) - the command line parameters may have changed since then, so Mezzmo will not be able to interact with it properly. It also doesn't contain some necessary components (like libx264, for example) that Mezzmo expects.

Does that FFmpeg work with your files better than the one supplied with Mezzmo?
