I've posted this on Persona Software's forum:

iPhone 4 running latest version of Media:Connect
Latest version of Mezzmo media server isntalled on windows 2003 R2

I load up media:connect, and it sees the mezzmo server. I tap the mezzmo server and it says "Loading..." .... thats it. The end.

It doesn't seem to be Mezzmo, I can browse and stream videos to my xbox just fine.

Here was their response:

Here is what we know so far... The Mezzmo server is intermittently not responding to requests from our client. The timeout for each request is 240 seconds (this is enforced by the iOS SDK for URL requests). We did not have an error alert that would display automatically when this condition occurred, therefore you continue to see the "Loading..." message even after 240 seconds have passed. You should be able to see the error alert by turning on the following setting in media:connect -- select the "Settings" tab, then "Advanced"->"Show User Alerts for Informational Errors"->ON. We have implemented better error alerting for the user, and this will be in the February release of media:connect.

The Mezzmo server does respond sometimes, but this is very intermittent.

Using the instructions at http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/419-FAQ-How-to-turn-on-dia... , we have submitted a diagnostic log to Conceiva that shows the problem on the Mezzmo server running on our Windows 7 test system.

I have used other iPhone apps (plugplayer, 8player, and MLPL, etc) and have no issues browsing the folder hierarchy or selecting media to play, so the problem does seem to be specific to Media:Connect. Maybe this has to do with the device profile for Media:Connect? Any other ideas?

Updated response from Persona Software (Media:Connect):

We have done a little more investigation of this problem, and it appears that the Mezzmo server doesn't respond to requests in rapid succession. When browsing a folder for content, our application sends several requests rapidly in order to optimize our loading process (which is probably different from the other iPhone apps you tried). We have modified this such that we make one call request. This seems to help with the Mezzmo server. There is still the chance the server will not respond if you navigate through our interface rapidly. If this occurs (i.e. if it takes longer than 5 seconds), simply press the back button in the top left corner and re-select the folder or content again.

So it sounds like they are going to code around the issue with the next update, but it still sounds like there is an intermittent problem on the Mezzmo side. Maybe the next version of Mezzmo will address this

I found the logs from developer of Media:Connect, so we'll work with him to find the issue - whether it's in in the player or Mezzmo, and get it fixed.
