View Full Version : Humax FOXSAT HDR - Playback Not Available

Hello,

I have a Humax FOXSAT-HDR freesat+ box. I have been copying files from it to my PC and want to stream them to my Sony Bravia TV using Mezzmo.

Windows Media Player manages to stream the files but with Mezzmo, I get "Playback not Available". Is this expected?

I think the files are MPEG2 ts files but they have some extra data in them as explained here - http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=964264.

Can you tell me if/when Mezzmo will support these files?

Regards,

Steve

Hello Steve,

Can you please right-click on one of those files in Mezzmo then use the "Get FFmpeg Information" command and post the results here?

Here's the data for one of the files - it plays OK in WMP and VLC.

Thanks - they look like they should play ok. Can you please send us one of those files so that we could test it here (via a site like www.megaupload.com for example)? Or, if you can't, please turn on logging (see this thread: http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/419-FAQ-How-to-turn-on-diagnostic-logging) then try playing one of those files on your TV using Mezzmo and once it fails, stop the server and send the logs to support (at) conceiva (dot) com

Tried streaming from Mezzmo to Sony - Playback Not Available.

Logs to follow shortly.

Any news on this issue? Latest version of Mezzmo does not fix the problem. From what I've read, it should be easy to strip out the redundant data. I'm not sure how you identify that the files need processing though.

Sorry for the delay - someone should get back to you soon. Mezzmo determines whether a file should be transcoded or not based on the container and the first video and the first audio codec it finds (and then matching that to the device profile).

Paul
01-27-2011, 11:12 AM
Ok, we've tried the files here and they don't play natively on the BDP (although they should, as per the device profile). I suspect it's because of some data that the DVR adds to the file and BDP's player cannot process.

You can force transcoding of those files (and all others) by going to the Advanced tab on the Device Settings dialog (from the Media Devices) and setting "Deliver media files support by device" to "Never Deliver" (leave the rest as-is). That should make all files transcode and those files should play fine then (they do here).

Changing the setting as you suggest does make the files play properly.

However, all my DVD's ripped to MPEG now stutter on the sound and don't fast forward and rewind as smoothly as before the setting was changed.

Any suggestions how to get both sets of files up and running smoothly? I have a Q6600 Quad Core on Gb LAN.

Steve

Paul

That's because now everything is being transcoded. The only way to fix this at the moment is to convert those files from the DVR separately, before adding them to Mezzmo. Unfortunately I don't see any other way around this for the time being.

slendervip

OK - I will look into a way of batch processing the files for when I copy across a group of files. Good job I've just bought a 2TB hard-drive.

As a future feature, is it possible to set transcoding options by file type. e.g. set mpg files (from my dvds) to not be transcoded but set ts files (from my DVR) to be transcoded. This could be added as exceptions in the advanced tab.

Steve

Paul

Once pre-transcoding is fully implemented, you will be able to transcode files individually (from within Mezzmo GUI) and thus you'll be able to choose which ones to transcode on a file-by-file basis.
