I've managed to set up my WD TV live and connect it wirelessly to my network. I can now see my laptop, desktop and the WD TV on the network.

I can connect to a shared drive on the desktop using the controls on the WD TV and run movies.

I am running Mezzmo on my laptop and also have a shed load of moves set up on it. Laptop is running Vista.

I can see the laptop using the Media Server command but can't see any media on it.

My basic question is - how do I actually get a movie to play from the laptop to the WD TV? I can see movies in Mezzmo but when I double click they simply come up and play on the laptop.

I'm sure I'm missing something basic - help!

You need to use your WD TV to access Mezzmo and then browse through the folders to the movie you wish to play and play it. This is all done on the WD TV. Also, please make sure that the right device profile is selected for it in the Media Devices dialog in Mezzmo.

OK thanks - I thought it was probably a really basic question. So if I've understood right then I should be doing all the controlling from the WD TV? If that's the case, and as I can see all the shared folders on the drive holding the media, what is the advantage of Mezzmo? There obviously is an advantage - its quite clear that lots of people see one - but I'm obviously missing something basic again!

Yes, you'll be controlling what to play from the WD TV. There are several advantages to using Mezzmo, including better organizing of your files (using smart/active playlists in addition to the folder layout) and transcoding of incompatible files.
