first congrats for releasing 2.3. tested it a bit and it looked pretty robust. thanks for adding subtitle and resume options for us samsung tv users. you can now use a thumbnail of a scene of your choice from the movie but you have to manually do it for every file. can you add an option to redo the thumbnails automatically of a scene 25% into the movie? this would stop the display of company logos on every movie file.

one problem i've had on the samsung tv was with a smart playlist in my movie folder (50 recently added files). I couldn't open it on my samsung. now i have only a list of folders in my video section. sometimes would stop after opening the video section with the error message "there are no video files".

that's it for now. have still to check a whole movie if the random stopping is fixed.

I've also had the "no video files" after downloading the new release. I have a Samsung blu-ray home theatre. The last download worked fine except for the normal Samsung problems. Now it is unuseable and I hope that the problem is fixed before Easter because I planned a few days of movie watching. I can't get any files to show on my Samsung at all. Is it just a Samsung problem or is 2.3 bugged for everyone.

forget the video thumbnail suggestion... just ran maintain library and the thumbnails are updated with a better image further into the movie... maybe it could even be a bit further, still have some title screens and movie company images... as an example: all "american dad" episodes show the same image because it's of the intro in front of each episode.

the "no video file" message comes up for me only at random times and most times after retrying opening the video section it works. another thing: had a "media play" error a few times while browsing my folders and going from one folder to the root directory.

You can now set the thumbnail for a movie file to anything you wish it to be - just go to Properties and then change the thumbnail (you'll have an option to drag the slider to any point in the movie).

Can you please send in the logs for when you experience the "no files" issue?

seems like mezzmo updated the thumbnails again and it shows now a scene from each episode of "american dad" and not the intro scene, so i think it's good like it is.

after rebuilding my database with mezzmo 2.3 and replacing the samsung profiles with the updated ones you've posted (although i have a samsung c tv) i could not reproduce the errors i've had with "no video files" and "media play" while browsing. but it seems like i've lost the subtitle option in the tools menu of my samsung c tv.

nevertheless i'm happy with your software and your support, so I'll definitely will be a paying customer after the evaluation period.

What device profile are you using for your TV and what is its exact model?

It's a Samsung ue40c6000 and i'm using the Samsung c Profile. I've had the subtitle Option workung after updating to 2.3 but now it just isnt't there. Like I've said I've since then updated some of the samsung profiles with your patch because i've had the ni video files error. i'm also having a problem with resume on some files. sometimes it works, sometimes not. can't say if it's since i've updated the profiles or not.

The updated profiles actually do not include a "Samsung C" device profile - only A, B and HTS. Can you please re-check that you're using the Samsung C device profile in the Media Devices dialog? Perhaps try deleting the device from there, then restart the server and change the device profile if it's not detected automatically. If you are using a "Samsung B" (or any other from the patch), then yes, subtitles will be temporarily gone until we issue a further fix for this.

Resume should still keep on working though, perhaps it's limited to just certain file types. Did you notice if its availability is consistent with the file types you are trying to play?

ok, now i've reunstalled the device profiles from the 2.3 setup and resume and subtitles work like a charm again. but now i have the occasional problem with no video files found and media play error while browsing my video section which were fixed with the updated samsung device profiles although i've always used the samsung c profile. go figure...

We'll be fixing those issues as well, so there should be a patch available for that soon :)

ok, i've now tested it with 2.3.1 and the problem still persists. after starting the media player on my tv and i enter the video section i've got the "no video files" found error for a few times. but after retrying entering it works after a while. and then there's sometimes the "media play" error which i get on trying to return to the root folder of my movie section from time to time. like i've said: it was fixed with your patched samsung a/b/hts patch although i'm using the samsung c device profile. but i had lost the subtitle and resume function... it's bizarre...

Am i the only Samsung c user with this problems?

No you are not alone, I also have a C series and have experienced the "media play" error, don't remember seeing the no video files error.

I am running 2.3.1 and have just been lazy at this stage about chasing it. When it happens the second attempt to browse to the folder has always worked. So annoying but not a show stopper. Having said that a fix would be nice.

We have not seen this problem with v2.3.1 but we will check this out again with our Samsung C-series TV.

My only guess about this problem is it may be is a timeout issue. Not 100% sure but I think when it happens is after a period of not using the media feature and my server has powered down the drives that contain the media files. When you first browse to a folder and the server has to start up the drives this can delay things for several seconds and it seems to be when this error appears. As I said once it fails you can go back to the same folder and it works.

Hope that helps.
