Hello,

Finally took the plunge and purchased Mezzmo today, after using the 15 day trial. I have to say I'm as impressed with the support on this forum as I am with the software. The quality of the support swung me to paying for this, rather than using some of the free alternatives.

I'd just like to offer some feedback after using it with my Samsung 32C6900 TV, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, with Mezzmo on my Thinkpad T60p laptop. Essentially, the TV works brilliantly, with one caveat, but the games consoles are pretty poor in their file support.

The caveat for the TV is that I need to use the Samsung BDP profile for mkv files to work. I don't transcode as my laptop isn't quick enough, so using this profile is the only way.

Playback on the TV is superb, even up to 1080p in H264 High profile. Furthermore, it will output multi-channel Dolby Digital and DTS, via the optical audio cable, to my Yamaha AV Receiver. However, you have to change the sound settings from PCM to the correct option after the video has started.

Both games consoles don't support mkv and the Xbox can be choppy at times. What the PS3 does support, it plays fine.

I'm still experimenting with my rips but things are looking up. Here is the FFMPEG info from a couple of the films that work on the TV using the BDP profile (but don't work using the auto-detected Samsung C profile):

Incidentally, other than being able to play mkv file natively, what other differences are there between the Samsung C profile, and the Samsung BDP one?

Thank you very much for a great product!

Hello,

I'm glad Mezzmo is working well for you - thank you for the kind feedback.

Some TVs (even in the same C-series) appear to support different formats (e.g. some suport DTS and some don't), so if you find that the BDP profile works better, then I'd recommend just using that. Basically the BDP profile allows for a few more files to go through natively, since we found that the BDPs play more files. It's also the case for some TVs, as you've found.

Files for the XBox360 are transcoded to WMVs and that's one of slowest encoders we have, that's why results on that may not be smooth (especially if the CPU is not fast enough), on the other hand files for the PS3 should be transcoded fast enough (again, need to know your exact CPU). For high-def (720p and above) files you'll need a quad-core to allow for smooth playback while transcoding.
