Streaming DVD to DLNA device

I am new to media streaming and have tried WMP12 to find that it doesnt allow streaming from a CD or DVD device. For example, to stream a purchased movie DVD. Is it the copyright protection that stops it? Does Mezzmo have the same limitation? Do I have to buy a DVD player and hook it up to hifi and tv using audio and video cables?

A DVD consists of several files and thus is not a good choice for streaming via DLNA. It would be better if you'd rip the DVD as a single file - then you could stream it.
