Hoping someone here can help me out i have a Samsung C8000 series LED tv and im trying to stream media to it from my win 7 pc. The software supplied by samsung is quite frankly useless so i went in search of something else that could do the job and found mezzmo and it seems to work great when i turn OFF win 7 firewall, But when the firewall is running i can see the mezzmo server running on my tv but displays no content in my folders.

I have had a look in the firewall settings and there is an inbound rule for mezzmo and port 53168 but no outbound rule.

Do i need to configure an outbound rule? if so how do i do it? i was under the impression mezzmo automatically configured the firewall?

Any help would be great :)

BTW im still on the trial version until i get this problem sorted then i'll buy the software.

Go to the Media Server Settings dialog in Mezzmo and click the 'Configure Windows Firewall' button. This sets up the rules in your Windows firewall for you. If your network type is 'public', then make it 'private'. After that, your Samsung Tv and Mezzmo should start talking to each other and you should see your TV listed in the Media Devices dialog in Mezzmo.

If you are still having problems, read through our FAQ: http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/1183-FAQ-Cannot-see-Mezzmo-on-your-DLNA-device

thanks for the pointers, turns out i needed to turn off media streaming in win7 network settings.

Now i have a new problem though :( if boot up the pc then the tv media streaming works fine until i play a file that is not supported & then all my content disappears again and it will not allow me to play anything until i restart the media server or reboot the pc.

My other concern is how i need to go about playing me itunes playlist through the tv?? the only catagories i have on the tv are:

Recorded tv
Videos
Music
Pictures

I can see my itunes music files etc but not the playlist, anyone got some pointers?

Make sure you are using the latest version of Mezzmo (v2.3.1) and your have the right device profile selected in the Media Devices dialog in Mezzmo. In your case, you should have "Samsung C" device profile selected for your TV. If that does not help, then it is best you send us a log file so that we can see what is happening when connection is lost between Mezzmo and your TV. See this to turn on/off logging: http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/419-FAQ-How-to-turn-on-diagnostic-logging. After turning on logging, try to reproduce the problem you mention and then turn off logging. Send us the log files to support [at] conceiva [dot] com.

You can import all your iTunes files and playlists (except iTunes smart playlists) into your Mezzmo library using the Insert/iTunes menu item in Mezzmo. Once imported, you should see them in Mezzmo. If you like, you can then move them under the Music playlist in Mezzmo simply by moving them in the tree in Mezzmo.
