View Full Version : Firewall question

Hopefully someone can help me with this. I have Symantec Endpoint as my firewall. If I disable the firewall totally, I can go to a PS3 on my network and see the Mezzmo media server.

If I enable the firewall, no matter what I have thought up, I get "no media server found".

I tried allowing all access to mezzmo.exe from my internal network (; allowing all access to TCP and UDP 1900 and 2869 and 53168. Nothing works if I have the firewall enabled. If I disable the firewall, everything works fine. Obviously it is a firewall issue, but I have no idea what else to do. Disabling the firewall just so I can run a media server is not an option. It's not that important.

I realize that this is probably the first time anyone has ever heard of this, of a firewall interfering with a media server, but incredibly, it is happening and any help would be greatly appreciated. I am not running Windows Firewall, I am on Windows XP, running Symantec Endpoint V11.

Can you please also add "mezzmomediaserver.exe" to the firewall's exceptions, as that's what is actually access the network (mezzmo.exe is the GUI and mezzmomediaserver.exe is the actual DLNA server). Please let me know if that helps.
