Yes you can download YouTube videos in DownloadStudio.

To download YouTube videos you need to find the actual URL for the video download and then add this URL as a download job and ensure the file downloaded has an extension of FLV. DownloadStudio contains a tool called Url Sniffer that will help you find the URL of the YouTube video.

Here is the step by step process;

1. Start the DownloadStudio Url Sniffer application. (You can do this by selecting Url Sniffer from the tools menu of DownloadStudio)
2. Click the "Start Sniffing" toolbar button. (This starts sniffing your selected hardware device for strings containing urls)
3. In your web browser navigate to the YouTube video you want to download and start playing the video. (You do not need to play the entire video)
4. Go back to the DownloadStudio Url Sniffer application and click "Stop Sniffing"
5. Go to the Filter bar in Url sniffer and in the "Text Search" edit box enter "get_video". Also make sure none of the File Type check boxes are checked

In the URL List you should now see a url that looks something like;

youtube.com/get_video?video_id=N_43-yxsPbM&t=OEgsToPDskL2wAin4pjBkiJz0SgF9ODs

6. Select this url and create a new job in DownloadStudio to download the url by clicking the "Download Selected URLs" toolbar item.
7. When you create the job rename the file to be downloaded so that it has an extension of .flv.

The file that is downloaded should now be able to be played in a FLV player. If you do not have an application to play FLV files do a search on the web as there are many free applications which will do this.

Also there are web sites dedicated to helping people download video sharing site content.

For example, the site http://keepvid.com/ allows you to add URLs from various video sharing sites and it will give you the real file link to download.

You can then use DownloadStudio to get the file.

In the new version YouTube downloading is much easier (along will virtually any flash video hosting site).

If you are on a web page that contains flash video, select the Download video... menu and DownloadStudio will find the flash video and download it for you.

Also with YouTube urls you can just copy and paste the url from your web browser into a new DownloadStudio job.
