great product! one quick question.

what does the http protocol referer do for your downloads? (advanced downloading options)

i notice that some of my download jobs have something in this field and some of them don't. why? and what does it do anyway?

Take a look at the wikipedia entry for general information on what a http referer is and does:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Referer

With DownloadStudio a referer can be important the web server may respond differently depending on where the request is coming from. This may result in different content based on value of the referer entry. (Most web servers will only use this value to keep web statistics, as it tells webmasters what page people are downloading this content from)

If you have DownloadStudio integrated into your browser, then when a download is caught via click moniotring it gets the referer information automatically from your web browser and sets it for the download job. DownloadStudio displays it in the advanced job properties so you can edit if the need arises.

If you manually add a download job in DownloadStudio the referer will be empty by default. This will explain why some of your jobs will have a referer and some will not.
