Hi,
unfortunately since the 2.4.1 update this friday all the video files that have a .srt file are not showing the subtitles. When the subtitles are embedded in the video file everything is correct.

I activated the log files and I found these lines:

31452 - Aug 06 00:49:56.182 - DB > Found a file (1): in.plain.sight.s04e12.720p.hdtv.x264-orenji.mkv
31453 - Aug 06 00:49:56.182 - DBW > Extension doesn't match, ignoring (1): in.plain.sight.s04e12.720p.hdtv.x264-orenji.srt (.srt; not in *.3gp;*.3g2;*.amc;*.asf;*.avi;*.divx;*.dvr-ms;*.flv;*.m2p;*.m2t;*.m2ts;*.m2v;*.m4v;*.mkv;*.mo d;*.mov;*.mp4;*.mpe;*.mpeg;*.mpg;*.mts;*.ogm;*.rm; *.rmvb;*.tp;*.trp;*.ts;*.vob;*.vro;*.wmv;*.wtv;)

So, the srt file is ignored because the extension is not in a list, I tried unsuccessfully to find where is that list in the configuration to edit it.

Can you tell me how can I reactivate the subtitles to continue enjoying your excellent application?

Thanks

Enrique Diaz

We have made a change to the way external subtitle files are stored in Mezzmo. This change is mentioned in the What's New v2.4.1 changelog and forum announcement. Here's what you need to know:

Existing Mezzmo users should use Maintain Library in Mezzmo after upgrading to Mezzmo v2.4.1. Set the Only update missing information setting and for all file types in the Maintain Library dialog. This is required for storing external subtitle file paths for video files and filenames for all media files into the Mezzmo database.

Well, I did that and it didn't work. I even set the Update All Files option which erased all my custom information from the database.

The subtitles are still not showing.

Is there something new in the media device profile that may impede the subtitles to show?

I'm using the LG BluRay (LPCM) profile.

Also, the image attached to the music files, the cover, is not showing even if it's present in the mezzmo browser.

Does this mean that Mezzmo will display subtitles when streamed to the PS3 if there is an .srt stream present in the .mp4, .m2ts or .mpg file?

I don't know about the PS3, but my LG Home Theater gave us the possibility of switching on/off the subtitles if they are present, either as a .srt file , or a .sub - I haven't tried with other formats, or embedded.

But I think all these has to do with the LG support of these formats (they are streamed without transcoding). So, if the PS3 supports the .srt or other subtitles formats, mezzmo will stream them and the console will display them.

Bummer, the PS3 doesn't support subs. I was hoping the new release burned the subs as part of the transcoding on the fly.

Can you please turn on logging (see this thread: http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/419-FAQ-How-to-turn-on-diagnostic-logging) then browse to a folder that has the file with subtitles and try to play it for a few seconds. After that please stop the server and send the logs to support (at) conceiva (dot) com and we'll investigate what's wrong.

I am also having problems with version 2.4.1 with my Samsung which uses Samsung B profile. No str and I have done the maintenance library stuff. The only solution was to go back to 2.3.2 that is working nicely.

We'll investigate this, but further testing here shows that subtitles work as they did before, provided maintenance is run and completes successfully.

Please send an e-mail to support (at) conceiva (dot) com, if you haven't already, so that we could send you a patch if needed or provide another solution.

That "extension doesn't match" is normal - subtitles are picked up in a different spot.

Problem found and fixed - please e-mail support for a patch if your SRTs are not coming up with 2.4.1.

Earlier today Dennis provide me a patch that enabled the srt subtitles again.

What can I say? I am very pleased with myself for having bought this software and with Dennis and the Conceiva Team for their excellent support.

Thanks a lot !

Dennis

Thanks a lot for your extraordinary dedication to support your customers. I am now back on business with my Samsung B TV playing all my MKV files with subtitles.
