View Full Version : Problems with Fast Forward/Rewind

Hi there,

I'm currently trialing Mezzmo (2.4.2) with my Sony BDP-S570 (Latest Firmware as of yesterday 22/08/11).

I've read various posts on here regards to the different profiles causing better/worse results. I'm currently settled on the Sony BDP (PAL, NoDivx), as I found the default (Sony BDP (NTSC, NoDivx)) did not support majority of my video media.

Whilst the sony BDP (PAL, NoDivx) provides excellent video/audio playback (and very happy with this aspect), I'm not able to stabily use Fast Forward or Rewind. The device is responding to Forwarding/Rewinding, but dependant on the media the playback either freezes completely or moves in extremely small increments, taking probably the equivalent time to forward through the media as to watch it! This is a real inconvenience as often I will not be able to watch a film in one sitting.

The connection between the BDP player and Mezzmo is via Wireless-N (5GHz). I wouldn't expect the network to be the issue as playback is faultless watching HD X.264 content.

See below for ffmpeg info relating to one specific title.

Any help would be appreciated. If I can get this solved then I will not hesitate in purchasing a license.

Thanks,

Wadded

Hi Wadded,

That file needs to be transcoded, so it's possible that FF is acting like that because there's no data to send to the device yet (if transcoding speed is not fast enough). Or does it behave the same on files that have already been transcoded as well?

Can you please enable logging (see this thread: http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/419-FAQ-How-to-turn-on-diagnostic-logging) then try playing one of the problem files and FF it a bit. After that stop the server and send in the logs and we'll see what's going on.

Hi Dennis,

Sorry for the late reply. It seems to behave the same with files that have been transcoded as well.

I'll enable the logs and send them over to you. Is there a preferred Email address?

Thanks,

Kevin

Can you please send in your logs as well, so that we could check what's going on. Also, please make sure you're using the latest released Mezzmo v2.4.3.

i'm having similar problems with Mezzmo 2.4.3 and Sony S570 player with Sony BDP (PAL) profile, neither transcoded or transcoding files are able to fast forward/reverse. intrestingly, the same files were fast forwarding just fine few weeks ago so my guess is that Mezzmo upgrade broke something since nothing else has changed. any ideas as what might have happened? i'd be happy to send in logs and stuff you need, just let me know what you need...

Please open a support ticket and we'll try and sort this out. Did you upgrade from 2.4.2 or some previous version?

i have accepted all incremental updates so it must have been 2.4.2 -> 2.4.3 or 2.4.1 -> 2.4.2 that broke fast forward, can't really recall when it worked last time exactly.

Ok, but at least 2.4.1 or earlier worked for sure? If you've opened a support ticket we'll continue via e-mail then.
