View Full Version : Mezzmo not reading tags of some videos

Hello,

I am trying to figure out why Mezzmo is not reading all of my tagged video files correctly. All my videos are .mp4's encoded with handbrake using h.264 and AC3 passthru. I am using Meta-X to tag the files and I am pretty sure there is nothing wrong with the tags since I can view the tagged information through file properties and can also see the correct thumbnail on the file when just looking at them from an explorer window.

The problem is that mezzmo reads the tags on about 90% of my files but not all of them and they are all tagged the same way. I have noticed that it never reads the tags on the blu-ray encodes and once in a while it does not read the tag on a regular dvd encode.

So I am just trying to figure out if there is something I am doing wrong or if there is a limitation to mezzmo that I am not aware of, or if a different tagging program is recommended (if so what one).

Thanks,
Steve

Hello Steve,

Mezzmo will try to read tags from an MP4 file, but it may fail for a number of reasons - it's hard to say without the actual files here. If at all possible, it'd be great if you could send us one of your files, so that we could test it here.

We're working on expanding our metadata support, so one of the future updates should work better in this regard.

Dennis,

What would be the best way to get you the file(s) I could send one that works and one that does not work if that would be any help. The files are 1.55GB and 2.20GB. I am not sure if I can email a file that large but am willing to try, otherwise is there a place I can upload it that you know of.

Thanks for the help,
Steve

We could use the www.megaupload.com site, but I think it's limited to 2 GBs for free accounts. Another option is using DropBox or any other file sharing service. I probably just need the file that doesn't work - is it the bigger or the smaller one?
