View Full Version : Subtitle Issue

So I'm using Mezzmo with my Samsung TV. It's not working flawlessly though. When I play an mkv file with subtitles (srt file in the same folder), this happens: It loads for a bit (I'm doing it over a wireless network), followed by the movie popping up. Next comes the weird part: The video itself starts playing at regular speed, but the timeline and the subtitles are sped through almost to the end (presumably where the subtitles end). The timeline then freezes while the movie keeps playing normally. I can't really skip backwards or forwards, sometimes when I try however it'll freeze up and go back to the movie folder.

Ideas?

Sounds like the movie is being transcoded. Can you please post FFmpeg information (in Mezzmo right-click on the file and use the "Get FFmpeg Information" command) and also the device profile that you are using?

There it is.

The profile is Samsung B (My TV is an LE40B657).

Thanks for the info.

Yes, that will be transcoded. If you turn off transcoding, does the file play natively?

Also, if you let it finish transcoding in the background (so, just start playing it, then stop and let it finish - you can check for "ffmpeg.exe" in the Task Manager, for example to know when it's done) it should play with subtitles properly.

Alright, you're right, it has to be transcoded (The audio is in DTS which the Samsung doesn't support). Playing without transcoding = no sound.

Anyway, it's still not working properly: When I tried again today the subtitles didn't appear in any way. Also, after the sound has been transcoded (I assume that's what's happening), the timeline sticks at the end, and if I try to fast-forward the film starts over.

EDIT: This is kinda overwhelming. I tried out a lot of different movies to try to isolate the issues, or something. Here's the result: Most videos won't load subtitles at all. The few that do only has the subtitles sped through at the start, at the same rate as the audio is being transcoded.

A lot of videos are suffering from sound that skips from time to time (you'd think that's because of the transcoding, but from the looks of it the transcoding only takes a few seconds at the start of the clip.). For a few the sound is also out of sync.

The skies are falling, really. Am I doing something wrong here?

If you try replaying it after it has finished transcoding, does it play correctly? The timeline shouldn't skip to the end once it has finished transcoding.

Would it be possible for you to send one of your files to us (via www.megaupload.com or a similar site), so that we could test it here on our Samsung B?
