hi all,

I've been using Mezzmo for over a year now and I'm still experincing some issues with the playing of some files that I'm helping someone can help to narrow down.

I'm aware that not every file/codec will play on my device, but if i can work out WHY some files dont play, then I'll see if the unsupported parts can't be converted.

So on to the questions;

1 - What profile should I be using? I'm currently on the Samsung HTS is this right for my hardware?

2 - What is the difference between these two files. The first one plays ok, but the secounds fails.

In my manual for my hardware there is a section that states 'Some DivX, mkv amd mp4 format discs may not play depending on the video resolution and frame rate condition'.

Is is revelent?

I have also included the information on all the files that currently dont play. I'm hoping a smarter sod than me can spot the common demonitor and help me reslove these issues.

thanks in advance :)

Tris

Thanks for the file information, but there doesn't appear too much difference in the files. My guess is that there's something in the encoding of the video or audio streams of those particular files that makes them incompatible with the built-in player on your HTS (and yes, the device profile you are using should be fine, but you can also try "Samsung BDP" and see if that works better).

Once the pre-transcoding version of Mezzmo is released, you'll be able to force transcode those and make them watchable on your device.

Sorry about the late notice but I was browsing the forum because I've got an issue too with the Samsung HT-C5550.

The device is capable playing MKV files (and others) form a USB device without problems. When playing from Mezzmo, I got some problems. If set to Samsing HTS profile, it doesn't play MKV's because it want's to transcode them first. Since my media server is just a intel Atom, not capable to mach the speeds, it fails.
So I change the profile to Samsung BDP, and it all plays well without transcoding. However, this profile got a flaw: browsing trough my folders seems to cause a timeout because I get the message that the connection was lost.

Any good advise? (except for "buy a real computer you fool" :) )

The latest version of Mezzmo v2.5 now include pre-transcoding. This is perfect for users with underpowered computers. It lets you transcode your files before streaming them to your device and that eliminates any stuttering/stopping issues due to transcoding speed not quick enough. Just right-click on the file in Mezzmo and click 'Pre-transcode File'. Or, right-click on a folder and click 'Pre-transcode Playlist' to pre-transcode a playlist/folder of files. Or, click 'Tools/Pre-transcode Library' menu item to pre-transcode your entire Mezzmo library.
