I'm in the process of evaluating Mezzmo and so far I'm fairly pleased with it but I have a couple of problems with getting it working correctly.

With my TV (Samsung UN55B8000) some of the files work ok but quite a few of them have various problems. I tried using the Samsung B and Samsung B (Compatible) profiles and it displays "Not supported audio codec" on the TV when trying to play some files. Samsung A doesn't play at all. Also, when trying to play any videos I can't seem to fast forward or rewind on the TV and X1.5 forward is the only thing that works on my Playstation 3. Here is the FFMpeg info:

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I hope I can get it working correctly. I hate having to convert files to play using the Samsung PC Share program and I'm hoping Mezzmo can be the answer to all my grief.

That file is passed through natively using both "B" profiles, so I suspect there's something about that file's encoding that makes the TV reject it. Does this file play using the Samsung's PC Share or does it give the same codec error?

Regarding the PS3 - which device profile are you using? Some of them will transcode more, some less and typically you'll get the x1.5 FF speed when the file is being transcoded.

Same thing using PC Share. "Not supported audio codec". I usually convert everything to divx or MKV before putting on Samsung PC share. I was hoping to avoid having to do that with Mezzmo's transcoding.

Thanks. That confirms that there's something about the encoding of the audio (perhaps) in that file. Would it be possible for you to send that file to us (through a site like www.megaupload.com) so that we could test it here and see if there's a way we can fix it?

Once the pre-transcoding version of Mezzmo is released, you'll be able to fix these files from within Mezzmo as well.

No need to really. I can fix it using TMPGEnc MovieStyle. I just thought maybe I needed to use a different profile or something. I guess I'll just have to wait for that version you are talking about. Is that the version that will force transcoding? I read about people requesting that elsewhere on the forums.

Any estimated release date?

My trial time is almost up and for the most part I haven't had many problems except for the few videos I have that seem to be non-standard. So your software gets a thumbs up from me and I'll be purchasing it.

A suggestion I would like to offer is maybe developing a client for mobile devices (iPhone/Android) to stream over 3G. It would be nice to connect to my server remotely from my iPhone.

Thanks for the help and I look forward to the next release.

The version with pre-transcoding will most likely be number 2.5 - sorry, no ETAs that I can give out, but it's not far away. You'll be able to force-transcode such files using that, yes.

We have considered developing mobile devices clients as well and it's something we'll probably look into in more detail soon as well. Thanks for the suggestion!
