Is it possible to set up Mezzmo to automatically downmix AC3 5.1 to AC3 stereo?

I have a lot of HD ripps but most of them I can not stream to my G30 plasma TV since it do not understand multichannel audio.

Yes, you could modify the device profile and remove <channels>6</channels> from the "ac3" format. If you're not sure how to do that, let me know and I'll provide detailed instructions.

Dear Dennis,
actualy I would like all multichanell audio to be downmixed to stereo since Panasonic TX-P42G30E does not support anything accept mono or stereo audio (both as streamed or locally USB pluged AV source). Could you make those changes in Panasonic Viera profile at least for AAC and AC3 audio which is most widely used.
How can I try to do it myself? Where are the media device profiles stored?

To see where device profiles are stored check this thread: http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/467-FAQ-Where-are-device-profiles-located

You'll need to remove read-only protection from the file (e.g. "PanasonicViera2011.prf" if you are using the "Panasonic Viera (2011 models)" device profile), then open it up with Notepad.

To downmix all multichannel sound to mono/stereo we'll need to add:

<channels>1</channels>
<channels>2</channels>

to all "audio" formats, thus telling Mezzmo that if there 5.1 or more, it should be transcoded. Does the manual for the TV specify that it only supports mono/stereo though? Our two Panasonic TVs here happily accept 5.1 audio, but they are different models to yours.

The following multichannel audio should be supported on G30 at its USB:
-DTS,
-DD 5.1 (lossy),
Dolby Digital Plus / TrueHD 5.1 i 7.1.

Those should be downmixed by TV to stereo output since it has two speaker stereo output with possibility to activate V-audio Surround Pro mod for superior sound.

Does the TV complain when you try to play a 5.1 file though? Did you try the changes I posted above?

I have made changes in Viera 2011 profile as you suggested. I need to download a few new movies and then I will post a review.
So far I have tested it with a sample of the movi Centurion which natively has DTS 5.1 sound. It was reproduced without transcoding (of the sound) but since this type of audio was supposed to be recognized even without profile modifications, I will continue to make tests and will post it here.

CONNAN MKV (original) - needs trancoding ?!

P.S.
In the profile is the option to output of AC3 and mp3 sound as stereo. I do not see the same option for AAC or DTS ?!

I 've had to manualy transcode audio DTS 5.1 to stereo AC3. Otherwise, the Mezzmo trancoded it itself but in that case it was not possible to activate integrated subtitle.
So, it seems that no transcoding is allowed if I want to see subtitles, right?

Can You recreate a profile for Panasonic Viera 2011 (for TX-P42G30) with all the neccessary changes which will automatically perform mixdown of all multichanell audio to stereo, please. This TV has V-Audio Surround and 2 x 10 watt speakers.

If you turn off transcoding does the Conan MKV play on the TV with video/audio? Our device profile currently specifies that the TV doesn't support DTS in an MKV container, so that's why the file would be transcoded. If it plays with transcoding turned off, then we can add DTS support for MKV files for the "Panasonic Viera 2011" device profile.

Also, in my understanding the TV should downmix all 5.1 audio to stereo itself - does it do that or does it fail to play files with 5.1 audio? If it fails, then yes, we can tell Mezzmo to do that, but if the TV accepts and plays such files, then I think that it would be best if the TV downmixed them on its own.

Integrated subtitles will be dropped during transcoding because we're transcoding to MPEG-TS. If we changed the profile to transcode to MKV, we could try and keep integrated subtitles, so perhaps that would work with the TV. We'll need to do some testing here with this. It would be great if you could send me a link through PM here or a support ticket with a download link to one of your files (that has embedded subtitles and also 5.1 DTS), so that I could test it here on our TV.

I noticed that in only one case (some time ago) the DTS 5.1 was automatically downmixed within M2ts stream. I do not have this movie anymore so I can not be sure. But, anyhow, my idea is to make a MKV fortress of my TV. I am pushing MKV because of the possibility to integrate subtitles.
I do not like M2ts or AVI stream...
I downloaded Conan also as BDAV rip, so it was also M2ts but it was not streamed to TV without transcoding.

Please, allow transcoding to MKV, you will save dozens of hours of AV transcoding to me.
