Hi,
I'm thinking about buying Mezzmo, but before I do that I want to solve ths issue I'm having.
I have a Panasonic Viera plasma, and I can play divx files with srt subtitles using mezzmo, without problems.
However, I have two problems with VOB files:
- I can play the individual VOB files on the television, but not the entire movie at once
- I can't see or choose the subtitles
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks,
L

The current version of Mezzmo will play only individual VOB files - it does not concatenate VOB files. We are planning better VOB support in a future version.

- I can't see or choose the subtitles

Most models of Panasonic Viera TVs will only display external subtitles streamed via DLNA when the accompanying video file is a DivX file.

Does this mean that my only option would be to convert it to divx with embedded subtitles?

No, you will need create a DivX file and have a .SRT subtitle file alongside it in the same folder with the same name (e.g. inception.avi and inception.srt)

Another question: I have converted it to mkv; which plays well on my Panasonic Viera, I even can choose the subtitles but they are not displayed. I saw in another thread that this will be supported in a next version. Can you tell me when that will be?

Did you create an MKV with embedded subtitles? If your TV supports embedded subtitles in MKVs (and supports MKV natively), then you should have an option to turn the on/off using the Option button on the remote. Do you have that choice? You'll need to use the "Panasonic Viera (2011 models)" device profile.

It doesn't suppot mkv or mp4 natively, I believe, because it's being transcoded (it's a panasonic viera VT-30 50 inch). So if it's transcoded, the subtitles should be burned in the movie then - because transcoding doesn't handle external subtitles?
And yes, the Panasonic Viera profile was selected automatically.

Did you try the "2011 models" profile (or is it the one being used currently)? Alternatively, if you turn off transcoding and try browsing to an MKV file, does it display as "MKV" on your TV? If it does, then your TV supports MKVs natively.

Yes, if the file is being transcoded, then subtitles would have to be burnt in and the next major Mezzmo version will do that for you.

The ability to play an entire folder would be greatly beneficial. I backup all my DVD's and keep them stored in raw VOB format with the same folder structure ason the DVD. That way I can easily burn an exact copy if needed. It's a pain trying to play those raw VOB files though because it stops at the end of each file. Being able to select a "play all in folder" option, similar to VLC, would be super... likely enough to get me to purchase a license to avoid having to merge or convert over 300 movies.

Your device may have this functionality, check the menu/options on your device to see "repeat" settings (or whatever it'll be called). The device has to request files from Mezzmo, Mezzmo cannot force files to be played on the device. A future version of Mezzmo may support "play to" functionality, but it'll also have to be supported by your device.
