Am having some problems with the icon size and quality that is being displayed on my tv (Am using a Samsung bd d5700 blu ray player). They appear to be stretched horizontally and are of very poor quality. My thumbnails that i have generated are 240 * 356. What am i doing wrong?

Each DLNA device has its own thumbnail size (some devices don't display thumbnails at all). In Mezzmo, the default thumbnail size is the DLNA standard of 160x160 pixels. You can change this using the Options dialog (Streaming page) in Mezzmo. After changing it, you will need to run Maintain Library so that Mezzmo creates new thumbnails for your existing files in your Mezzmo library according to your new thumbnail size.

Many Samsung devices do not seem to respect the width and height of the thumbnail that is streamed to them and will stretch the thumbnail to fit their thumbnail size. I think this is what you are experiencing. We are planning to add an option in Mezzmo to let you (optionally) pad your thumbnails so this ugly stretching does not occur.

Which profile are you using in Mezzmo to transcode to your Samsung BD-D5700? I've tried just about every profile and the only one that seems to work is the profile for Playstation 3, but it has intermittent problems (plays sometimes, sometimes it doesn't, navigation hangs, etc.). I have the latest Samsung firmware to date and I'm running a full paid version of Mezzmo on an i7 990 (6 core) Intel processor, 24GB of memory, 8TB of disk space (7200 RPM), Windows 7 (64 bit) on a gigabit network. I can transcode perfectly fine to my Samsung TV, Samsung BD-C7500, Xbox 360, iPhone, Android and WD TV Live.....but this stupid Samsung D5700 just doesn't want to accept 'transcoded' files!

If I stream files on the Samsung from Windows Media Center, it works fine, but Windows Media Center doesn't support .mkv and .rmvb files by default (it will work with a hack/workaround). Windows Media Center isn't capable of transcoding, so I don't want to use it.

I also own a paid Pro Version of TVersity and I built a profile for the Samsung BD-D5700, but transcoding doesn't seem to work well either. I'm transcoding the files to a supported codec according to Samsung's product documentation.

MediaTomb on Ubuntu Linux streams MPEG4 files perfectly to the Samsung BD-D5700.

We have had a several users complain about the DLNA implementation in this model. It appears to quite different to other Samsung BDP models.

Please set the device profile to "Samsung BDP" and then delete your transcoded files using the Transcoding Settings dialog. Next, enable logging (see this thread: http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/419-FAQ-How-to-turn-on-diagnostic-logging) then start your Mezzmo server. Using your D5700, connect to Mezzmo and try playing some files. When some files fail to play, stop your Mezzmo server and zip up all the logs and send them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com. We'll investigate what is happening once we get your logs.

i think your right my samsung streams fairly well with the d series profile but every once in a while i have issues with it loosing connection. fustraiting.
on a side note i have been developing some apps with the sdk for the 5700. the more i work with it the more i realize that samsung has some flakey software. i have the current firmware. i am thinking that the issues are with samsung and not mezzmo

I completely agree... The problem is with the Samsung BD-D5700 device and not Mezzmo! The Samsung BD-D5700 does not want to play 'transcoded' files!

My older Samsung products don't support as many codecs as the D5700, but I can transcode/stream EVERYTHING to the older Samsung products through Mezzmo. The new Samsung BD-D5700 supports a lot of codecs and formats such as .mkv. I have a media library with tons of random codecs and file formats, I installed Serviio (free version), selected the 'Samsung C/D Series profile' and 80% of my library works on the D5700! If I disable transcoding in TVersity (paid pro version), I can play about 80% of my library as well. I haven't tried disabling transcoding in Mezzmo for this device, but I imagine that it will work. The problem is, I WANT transcoding to work for the D5700 so it will play 100% of my library!

Based off of hours and hours of testing with different Media Servers on Windows and Ubuntu Linux, I have a feeling that Samsung did something like this for DLNA in the D5700... "The new Samsung BD-D5700 supports so many codecs that anytime files are streamed to it, the D5700 will have to see the 'complete file' before playing it". I might be wrong, but this is just a guess. Why do you ask?... If I take a MPEG2 file (supported by D5700) and transcode it to MPEG4 (supported by D5700) it doesn't work! If I disable transcoding, the file plays perfectly.
