View Full Version : Mezzmo 2.5 does not extract 'Album Artist' from FLAC music files correctly

Hi.
I've just been checking out V2.5 as an upgrade to 2.4.5 and so far it seems to be pretty good :) - especially in GUI response. However one thing that seems 'odd' is the handling of FLAC music files that contain an 'Album Artist' tag.

I have a large number of such files ripped from Compilation albums using Foobar and have tagged them with as 'Various Artists' in the 'album artists' field to ensure that they appear listed together in Foobar. However Mezzmo is duplicating the 'artist' field i.e. it is as though the 'album artist' field were empty.

MP3 files, on the other hand, are interpreted correctly and appear under 'Various Artists', 'Various Composers' etc.

....or have I done something wrong?

Hi,

Can you please send one of those FLAC files to support so that we could check out what's going on?

Hello,
I'm givin a try to Mezzmo as DLNA server on a win 2K8R2 server machine.
I'm can see the same thing except that my files are MP3 not Flac.
That is, with WMP12 as client, Mezzmo seem to fill the Album artist and the Artist tag (in WMP12) with the artist tag only.
The consequence is that when several artists contribute to the same album, it becomes splitted in WMP12.
I hope this is clear because my english is not very good.
Thanks for your Help an a Happy New Year !!!

Hello,
Unfortunately, my mp3 files 320 Kbs are too large. So I send you screenshots.
When I use the mezzmo link in WMP12, the album become splitted as many times as different artists contributing to the album.
To illustrate this, you'll find 3 screenshots :
The first one MP3tag shows the tags of the christopher cross album. You can see that the artist album is christopher cross for all songs.
Screen 2 : christopher cross as seen throught the WMP12 Library : the album is not splitted and the blue name on top of the thumbnail is the album artist, all songs are together.
Screen 1 : christopher cross as seen throught mezzmo in WMP12 (selected in the left of the window) : the album is splitted and the name of the artist on top of the album thumbnail is always different because it is not the album artist tag but the artist (interprčte in french) Tag.
So it seems that mezzmo is filling the album artist tag of the dlna clients with the artist tag of its database. As a consequense, albums become splitted in WMP12 using mezzmo DLNA feature.
Hope it's clear !
Many thanks for your help !
Best Regards

Thanks for the screenshots.

Actually I think the problem is that Mezzmo server does not use the albumartist tag when sending data to devices at all. Can you please open a support ticket and I'll send you a patch that fills that tag in and we'll see if it fixes this issue?
