Hi,

I have all my stuff on a portable usb drive. i have connected this drive to a netgear wireless router which has a usb port. it exposes the connected usb drive as \\readyshare\... everything is fine and mezzmo can read it and catalog the files into the library. i can also play the files off the library on the PC. But when i try to play it from the TV (Panasonic P60s30) it says cannot read file.
i first had mezzmo configured with just the network path i.e. \\readyshare\mystuff, didnt work, then also tried to map the network drive to Z:, still doesnt work.
Is it possible to get this working, i dont want my portable to always need to be connected to my PC and would like it to be permanently connected to the router.
[to prove that the files are ok to be played on the TV, i have put the files onto my hdd and the TV plays it fine...]

Thanks for your help...

Regards,
Vaibhav

Most likely it's a permissions issue. The service itself has different permissions than the GUI, so you may see files in the Library, but we cannot transcode/stream them. Please check that the share is accessible to everyone and doesn't have any specific user assigned to it. Alternatively, try using the same username as you have registered the server under (the same as your Windows logon) on that folder and see if that helps.

Hi Dennis,

I see that the mezzmo service is running under my windows account and the account also has full access to the portable drive. It should work...
If i change the mezzmo service to run under system account, i dont even see the files on the TV... but when running under my account, i can see the files, thumbnails etc on the TV, its just that when i say play, it says cannot read file. and i am currently trying with a mp3 so no file format issues.

It's possible that there's some setting on the router (since you are going through the router's USB port) that prevents the server from accessing it properly. Please check if it's possible to set permissions on the shared folder via the router.

If that doesn't help, please enable logging (see this thread: http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/419-FAQ-How-to-turn-on-diagnostic-logging) then try accessing that folder from your device and try to play something. Once that fails, please stop the server and send in the logs to support and we'll check them out.
