View Full Version : 24-bit/96khz File Bitrate Not Correct

When playing 24-bit/96khz files through my Sony SMP-N100, the files play but the bitrate is LPCM 1.4mbps which is not correct. For truly 24-bit/96khz file support, the bitrate should be 3.1mbps.

Is something wrong in my settings, or is Mezzmo automatically downsampling these files to 16-bit/44khz?

Thanks.

Mezzmo (FFmpeg) will transcode to 1.5 Mbit LPCM, so that's correct. We haven't tried converting to higher bitrates, but if you could send one of your files to support, we can do some testing here and see whether FFmpeg support encoding higher bitrates. Your device may or may not support such files as well.

Do you feel there's a loss of quality when converting to 1.5 LPCM?

While they sound fine at 1.4mbps, I'd definitely like to enjoy my higher resolution files in their full resolution as I have a good stereo system.

The Sony SMP-N100 does support up to 24bit/192khz files... and I was able to play these files on a USB thumbdrive plugged into the unit.

We'll try to increase the bitrate and see if that transcodes properly (and if it does, if it plays on the device via DLNA).
