I've ran into a problem with a whole bunch of .avi files.
The issue is, that after a few seconds of playing it starts to pixelate, skip ahead, and some weird stop and go. After 10-30 seconds it comes to a complete stop.

After checking a lot of different avi's from different sources i have narrowed it down to those that use mp3 as audio codec. never had this problem with files using ATSC A/52 / AC-3.

But on the other hand, 50% of those using mp3 work perfektly. So i'm not sure thats the problem. After looking at the properties of the files, the audio codec is the only difference i could find.

Any suggestions?
I am using the Panasonic Viera (2011 models) device profile, my tv is tx42gt30y
btw, mezzmo is a really nice program :)

It's possible that they are encoded in a way that makes the TV's built-in player fail. Please try pre-transcoding them in Mezzmo and use forced transcoding (select "Force full transcode" and "Transcode files matching" checkboxes).

I could not find the checkboxes you suggested, but was able to pretranscode the file by rightclick->pretrans->check the tv and the box "pretrans even if match the devices supported formats"

And was able to play the file afterwards. But now i am missing the .srt subtitles?

The "Force full transcode" is in the dialog where you select formats (when you click on the link in the pre-transcode dialog). The other checkbox you found - I just didn't name it properly in my reply :)

Subtitles are only supported for AVI (DivX) files on the Viera, thus you won't see them when transcoding (since files are transcoded to MPEG-TS). We can try and add AVI transcoding as well and see if that helps - we'll need to test if it works here first.
