Hi,

I have a KDL-EX425 TV (does not suport Divx) and a BDP S-580 (supports DivX (AVI) files with SRT subtitles files), I would like to know if Mezzmo supports both devices:

1) KDL-EX425, transcoding Divx (AVI) files with SRT subtitles file to the TV, so I can watch a movie with subtitles on the TV;

2) BDP S-580, no transcoding needed, sharing DivX (AVI) files with SRT subtitles file, so I can watch a movie with subtitles.

I am intending to buy Mezzmo, but first I would like to know the answers to these two questions.

Installed the trial version, what I found:

1) For the BDP S-580 does not work to play DivX files (.AVI), Mezzmo thinks this BDP is not capable to play DivX/XViD files, and uses ffmpeg (or a program with a name like that) to transcode, it became too slow, because my notebook is not a dual core.

2) For the KDL-EX425 does not work either, probably because the note has slow performance. I can see the files, but cannot play them because an error occurs (maybe due to a timeout).

I can buy a new notebook, but this will not solve the first problem. The first problem need a solution from Conceiva to Mezzmo correctly recognize Sony BDP S-580 as DivX Player that supports SRT files.

Any help?

Just for the record: with Windows Media Player 11 I can watch my videos on the BDP S-580 perfectly, only the subtitles does not work.

Well, do my homework, inspect the xml profile files, and found that there is a "Sony BDP" profile that seems to support DivX. Tried it, it works (no transcoding), but no subtitles too. Tried another thing, use a profile for Samsung BDP 3D, can watch the DivX movie, but no subtitles.

Any help, Conceiva people?

Hi James,

We're closed on the weekend, thus no replies :)

Did you add the subtitle file to the movie's folder after that movie has already been added to Mezzmo or was the subtitle file already there when you did the initial scan? If the former, then you need to run maintenance so that Mezzmo can pick up the subtitle file.

If the subtitle file is there and has been picked up by Mezzmo, then it sounds like your BDP does not support external subtitles over DLNA. To confirm this, please enable logging (see this thread: http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/419-FAQ-How-to-turn-on-diagnostic-logging) then browse to and try playing that video which should have subtitles for a few seconds. After that stop the server and send the logs to support and we'll check what's going on.

Hi, the srt files were already in the folder when I added the avi files. Sent you (support@conceiva.com) the log files with subject "BDP S-580 Sony".

I opened the log file, didn't find anything about sending the srt file to BDP S-580, only found that the .srt file was being ignored. Use the profile I found in this link http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/2552-Support-of-Sony-BDP-S480, probably it is not prepared to handle .srt files. Maybe fixing this problem on the prf file, subtitles will work. But I don't know how to fix it. BDP S-480 is the of BDP S-580, but without the wifi buitin.

If so, if you can fix this, please send the new prf file to me or post it in this thread, ok?

Thanks for the logs - I'll get back to you via e-mail after checking them out. Subtitle files are not part of the device profile (.prf), so if it's not being picked up and sent to the device, there must be some reason for that - hopefully the logs will show that.
