Hi,
Have purchased full version of product (2.5.0.0) and really excited at what I've seen thus far.
That said have had some diffs with importing iTunes in.

Have a large iTunes dbase with some 98,000 tracks, and have invested a lot of time in same.
Really looking fwd to controlling what gets streamed out to my media devices as dbase to large to read by the likes of Xbox260 etc.

The iTunes Library file runs at about 150K.

When i go to ad the iTunes Database (Insert\Add iTunes Library), it starts to run (takes some time to initialise) but stops after a few mins having added all my standard playlists (no smart ones though), but doesn't add all tracks or indeed populate all the playlists it's imported.

Have tried on several occassions with same results.

My iTunes lib sits on my PC, with the music files on my WHS box....

Any help greatly appreciated, and perhaps could also get some answers to queries below...

1. Does Mezzmo support Smart Playlists?
2. Would presume that Mezzmo reads the iTunes Library file only, and doesn't scan my WHS box (where music files are)? Would help me rule out performance on WHS as an issue.

Many Thanks...
JJX

Hi,

Unfortunately Mezzmo does not support iTunes' Smart Playlists at the moment. The problem is that they are stored as binary in the XML and we don't know how to decode it yet. There's no open document on the format that we found.

Importing standard playlists should work though and files should appear in them in Mezzmo - if that fails, please tell me what version of iTunes you are running and I'll try to reproduce this here.

When adding files Mezzmo will attempt to access physical files to check for their existence and to get some additional information.

Hi Denis,
Sorry to come back to this one after so long.
Haven't tried to add in whole iTunes library as probably overkill for what I want to do (i.e. just stream some tunes to XBOX), and also Library is huge (and library wouldn't stream to xbox anyway).

Diff I'm having now is re: importing external playlists...
Have saved a playlist off from iTunes as m3u file and import into Mezzmo.
Tracks are appearing in Mezzmo ok, but they aren't contained in a single folder...ie. can see tracks in All Artists folder, but not seeing a single container that I can select for playlist to just play that list when streaming.

Am I doing something wrong here, or do the track just get added to Mezzmo, without an associated folder/container under Music?

Many thanks and great product.

Update...

Got this working of sorts by using a Linked Playlist and pointing it at the m3u file exported from iTunes.
It's not fully seeing some of the files though...it's just showing them as text docs, with filename showing but I can't play file.

Thx
JJX

There's two ways to add external playlists (M3U, PLS, WPL, ZPL) into Mezzmo:

(i) Add To Library -> Add Files From External Playlist. This will find all the media files in the playlist file and add them into your Mezzmo library. Your files will be listed in the default playlists like All Music Files, Recently Added, Artist, Genre, etc.

(ii) Create Playlist -> Linked Playlist. This will create a new playlist and it will be linked dynamically to the external playlist. Whenever the external playlist file changes (e.g. you add/remove files into the playlist file), then the playlist in Mezzmo will be updated.

If you still have a problem where you cannot play some of the files, please send us the playlist file to support [at] conceiva [dot] com and we'll take a look.

Hi,

I’m having a very similar issue to JJX. I’ve been able to import my iTunes library and playlists successfully before but for some reason I’m not able to successfully do that anymore.

When I go to “Add to Library”>”Add ITunes Library”, it creates an iTunes playlist with all of my iTunes playlists within it but all of the playlists are empty. I know it’s connecting to my iTunes database because the playlist names are there from iTunes, just no tracks within the list. The files from iTunes get imported and are displayed in the “All Music Files” playlist.

I have since deleted my Mezzmo database to start from scratch but I’m encountering the same issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’ve been using Mezzmo for a number of years now and haven’t had an issue with it until now.

Thanks,

Jason

Hi,

Additional info for the post above. I noticed that not all the files from iTunes are being imported. It seems that anything that I keep on any other drive other than my C:\ drive are not imported. The files play in iTunes so I know they are accessible but aren’t coming over to Mezzmo.

Thanks,

Jason

Hi Jason,

Sorry for the delay. It's best we see a set of logs when you import your iTunes database. Turn on logging in Mezzmo (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/419-FAQ-How-to-turn-on-diagnostic-logging). Stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo (Windows) app. Run Mezzmo (Windows) app again. Reset you Mezzmo database via the Options dialog (General page) and then import your iTunes database. When that completes and you don't see all your files listed under the iTunes playlists (or under the Music/Recently Added playlist), then stop your Mezzmo server (if running) and exit Mezzmo (Windows) app. Zip up all the logs and email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.
