Hi

Wonder if anyone can help

Currently trying to play an mkv with ac3 but I'm getting unsupported format when I Try and play via my xbox 360... transcoding is on (limit to 2gb) and I'm using latest ffmpeg. I dont really want to "pre-transcode", Just transcode on the fly. I have the network wired into 1gb switches, I run on a i7-2600 sandybridge with 16gb ram and a decent 4gb video card, so it can handle anything I throw at it.

Running latest ffmpeg, transcoding is on and set at normal priority on the latest mezzmo, profiles are set to xbox 360

any help appreciated.

Xbox 360 supports video files in Windows Media Video (WMV) format, ASP, H.264 and MPEG-4 media in .mp4 format. Sounds like it is the container format messing it up. Try saving it as an mp4.

Thanks for the reply,

To be honest, I purchased Mezzmo thinking it would take care of all the on-the-fly transcoding anyway, hence the profiles, etc?

I was hoping not to have to re-transcode my files to mp4, any other ideas, apart from that ?

thanks in advance for any help

Yes, Mezzmo should transcode on-the-fly for you.

Please enable logging (see this thread: http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/419-FAQ-How-to-turn-on-diagnostic-logging) then try playing that file again and once it fails, stop the server and send the logs to support. We'll check transcoding (perhaps it fails?) and streaming and see what's going on.

thanks for the reply it looks like the ffmpeg file is missing from looking at the logs. Where would I get this from and install it to? (weird how it's gone!)

(I thought it worked previously so could be as I also updated my shark 007 codec pack recently, so perhaps shark007 removed it?)

Found it, looks like my AV From F-secure had decided it was malicious, I've added to the ignore log now and it is transcoding away again - thanks for the reply and help I appreciate it :)

-- Final Question - I've noticed there is a newer version of ffmpeg, is it ok to update to 0.10 which they say is a major change or is it best to stick with whats on at the moment?

Many thanks again

I'm glad you've sorted it out. The new version of FFmpeg has changed some command-line parameters, so it won't work with current Mezzmo. We already have the newest build here in-house and have adjusted Mezzmo to work with it, so it'll be part of next Mezzmo minor update (due out soon).
