I don't believe you can as Mezzmo is a Windows program. The requirements are "Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit), Windows Vista (32-bit and 64-bit), Windows XP (32-bit and 64-bit), Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2003, Windows Home Server (WHS) ". Or do you mean to install Mezzmo on a PC and hold the media to be streamed on a NAS?

All of the current NASs are Linux machines so Mezzmo won't work on them. I have my media on a Synology DS1511 with 5-3TB drives in a raid5 array. Mezzmo is on my pc and handles all the steaming fine. Now if you are a techy, there is nothing to stop you from installing windows on the NAS and then running Mezzmo on it. (I would not transcode on it since it would not have enough processor power.) Or you could build your own media server to do it for you.

I do it the way I have because the NAS also works as a DNS, mail, web and blog server. (It does have dlna capabilities but I turned them off to reduce the load on it and because Mezzmo works so much better.)

A quick Google brings up this page: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555211 - we haven't tried this and I have no idea whether that works or not. If you try it, please let us know the results :)

I would make sure that the NAS has compatible hardware i.e.Intel or AMD x86/x64 CPU before going down that route. A lot of NaS boxes use different chips that I would expect Windows to barf at.

Also you will need a technet subscription or equivalent to obtain that software.

Given your question, I would recommend that you do not pursue this yourself. It is a very complex issue and you will find almost no support for it. Bodders is correct that you will need to find a box that supports the correct processors to allow you to continue. I do know that my box has an x86 processor. But I will not do it because there is no real driving need to do so. (I do have the skills to do it, but desire to do so.) With the setup I have I am able to serve movies to multiple devices while also playing games on the pc. (Note that I am not doing any transcoding.)

Would I like my NAS to run windows? Not really linux is much better for what it does. (i.e. windows is just starting to support 3TB drives)
Would I like my NAS to run Mezzmo? Yes, but I realize that the market is probably so small as to make that a very low priority for Conceiva.
In the future when dlna is much more of an appliance market maybe it will happen, until then I am happy.
