Hello,

New user with a couple of questions.

1) Just installed Mezzmo on a WHS machine. I want to set up all the other PC's to see mezzmo content. I have seen mentioned in a couple of places that "Mezzmo comes with its own media player". Can someone tell me how I get the media player on to each network PC? - do I have install the Mezzmo download and if so can I register the software 5 times?

2) The WHS server machin has low spec CPU - I have some other PC's that are quad 4 - is it possible to install Mezzmo on on of those machines do the transcoding and import it back onto the server?

thanks,

Rich.

Hello Rich,

Actually Mezzmo does not include its own media player anymore (it was removed a couple of years ago).

You could just install Mezzmo on one of those PCs and run it from there, or do you turn them off and thus want to keep Mezzmo running on the server? If so, one way I can think of is if you pre-transcode everything on one of the powerful machines, then copy transcoded files and the transcoding database back to the server, so that Mezzmo on the server picks it up.

Thanks Dennis,

Ok on the media player.

On the server, yes the PCs get turned off or sleep at night- so Iwas looking to get it onto the server....that said, if mezzmo is running a "sleeping" pc is it able to wake it from one of the devices? If not I may go with the transcoding and copying back. I guess to have a more permananet copy on one of the other machines I would need a second license right?

thanks,

Rich.

Mezzmo does not wake machine currently, but this may be added in the future.

Basically you need a second license if you plan to run two servers at the same time. If you only want to pre-transcode on one machine and then run the server only on the other machine, you should be fine with one license, I believe.
