Hi,

I recently upgraded from Twonky to Mezzmo, mainly for the transcoding and the Smart Play Lists.

There is one thing that Twonky doesby default that I can figure out how to do in mezzmo.

I have files spread over a few drives

ie

e:\homemovies\birthdays
e:\homemovies\holidays\new york\
e:\homemovies\holidays\Mauritius
f:\homemovies\holidays\Vegas
f:\homemovies\Weddings

twonky will display

homemovies - Birthdays
- Holidays - New York
- Mauritius
- Vegas
- Weddings

but Mezzmo gives me

homemovies - Birthdays
- Holidays - New York
- Mauritius

homemovies - Holidays - Vegas
- Weddings

I dont want to see the homemovies folder twice, I want all teh holiday level items combined.

Is it achievable is mezzmo? If not can I request it in an upcomming update?

Thanks,
Chris

You could create a smart playlist titles Homemovies. As a condition of the playlist have filename or filepath contain homemovies.

Then in that playlist you can create other playlists to further refine your choices.

I have the same problem, using Smart Playlists shows everything in the same list, no structure, is there a way to preserve the folder structure regardless of disk it's on, i.e. merge all folders with same root path into one?

Thanks

Not in the current version of Mezzmo. We are looking into this, as it has been requested by several users and we can see that it is quite a typical setup for organizing media files on home networks. In addition, several users have reported to us that Windows junction points are not being followed correctly by Mezzmo. So we need to fix this also, as it provides a method of combining/merging folders across drives.

Any progress on this? I was hoping version 3 would be better but no... Still using twonky...

Mezzmo does support Windows symlinks and junction points since Mezzmo v2.6.3, so you can bring together different drives/folders into a single folder and then add that folder into Mezzmo. Take a look at this thread for more details - http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/3375-Merging-multiple-drives-to-be-seen-as-one

I’d like to suggest that this needn’t be as difficult as it sounds.

Let the Folder field in the Folder Properties dialog accept a semicolon separated list of folders (like the %PATH% environment variable in Windows).

Then, after scanning the first folder and its children, scan each subsequent folder and its children, merging into the same tree instead of starting from a new root.

Since this would be an “advanced” feature, there should be no need to make the Browse... button do anything different than it does now. People who want to do this could manually add the required paths, separated by semicolons.

That's a nice idea, Coises. We have something similar planned.

I have tried the junction points and symlinks but its more maintenance then other media searchers need. Also hiding folders with no videos/pictures/music would be good. I like the transcoding in mezzmo but the end user (example my non-techy family's) experience is much better with twonky then with mezzmo...

Just an update - Mezzmo v3.4 now has a new feature called Merged Folders and this lets you combine folders from different drives (NAS, USB and internal) so that you can browse a single folder structure in Mezzmo and on your devices. See this FAQ for more details - http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/6338-Tutorial-How-to-merge-folders-from-different-drives-%28NAS-USB-or-internal%29
