Hey!

I have a Samsung TV (6 series LE37B650T2), and i cant get subtitles (.srt) to work with Mezzmo

I have tried several videos (with mkv containers) and subtitles (all srt)-

i can see some lines from the srt show up at the beginning of playback (so fast i cant read it..) and then after some seconds no subtitles are displayed for the rest of the playback.

This must be a transcoding issue, beacause if i turn off transcoding for all devices in "Transcoding Settings" in Mezzmo, there are no problems with the subtitle..

Is there anything i can do to fix this or troubleshoot the problem?

Thanx for any advice :P

The current version of Mezzmo (v2.5) does not transcode (or touch) your external subtitle files (.SRT, .SUB, .SMI) so I don't think it should be related to transcoding. Mezzmo simply delivers the matching .SRT file to your TV and it is up to your TV to display the subtitles. Often when subtitles appear wrong on your TV, it is due to a badly formed SRT file, or an incompatible SRT file that is causing the problem (e.g. encoding of the SRT). My suggestion would be to try another SRT file as a test (just rename another SRT file to have the same filename as the video - e.g. inception.mkv and inception.srt).

Let me know how you go. If you still suspect it is related to transcoding, then we will need to see a set of logs when you stream a file with a matching .SRT file. Please turn on logging (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/419-FAQ-How-to-turn-on-diagnostic-logging) and then stream the file. After it fails to display the subs, stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo. Zip up the logs and send them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.

Thanks for the fast reply!

First of all, i have tested several subtitles files (as posted originally) with the same result.

Most importantly, the same subtitle file (and video), wich do not work in normal mode, works perfect when i turn off transcoding!

so something must be different for my TV when transcoding is turned off.

Here is the log in normal mode (subtitle does not display correct): http://bit.ly/JN0L9l

I also made a log with the same subtilefile/video with transcoding turned off (subtitle works): http://bit.ly/KqrCUk

i'll send the logs to your email as well :D

OK - thanks for the logs. We'll get back to you after we analyze them.

We've analyzed your logs and reproduced your issue with our Samsung B-series TV. The firmware in Samsung B-series TVs is quite poor with regards handling subtitles since it is not able to display subtitles for files that are transcoding on-the-fly. This issue did not occur for displaying subtitles on Samsung C-series or D-series TVs.

We did found one issue in Mezzmo during our testing and will fix it in an upcoming version. This will help display subtitles on Samsung B-series TVs when a file has been completely transcoded.
