Im thinking of upgrading my server from an old Athlon 64 dual core to a new proc. I know I can squeeze in a new 4 or 6 core Phenom II in, but Im not sure which one would be best. The six core runs at 2.7, but the 4 core runs at 3.6 ghz. Which would Mezzmo use better? Im running all kinds of different devices on my network, ranging from a newer Sony KDL to an xbox360. I rip my Blurays and DVD's to lossless MKVs and I have around 25,000 flacs in my music library. This will be running in original WHS until I can afford to upgrade to 2011. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Mezzmo is fully multi-threaded so it will take advantage of your processor's cores. The most CPU and RAM intensive part of Mezzmo is transcoding. Mezzmo uses ffmpeg.exe for its audio & video transcoding, and ffmpeg.exe is designed to take advantage of your multi-core CPU. In general, I would recommend the more cores the better and the more memory the better. For transcoding HD 1080p video, you need at least a quad core processor with 4GB RAM, but we do recommend something like an i7 processor - otherwise you may get stuttering when streaming and transcoding on-the-fly.
