I installed 2.5 literally about a week ago, and was so impressed I bought it and Download Studio. Got an automated update to 2.6, and started to have frequent crashes. Then 2.6.1 was released, and again I upgrade, but the crashes seemed to get worse. Uninstalled and did a fresh install, no luck it crashed while scanning my video and audio folders.

I sent my crash files in, but wondering if anyone else is having similar issues...?

Freebird614 - yes I am having same issues. I installed Mezzmo v2.61 on a windows7 x64 PC as an upgrade to v2.5 - initially it ran slow and user tasks appeared to come to a standstill during the scanning of folders. Then when all was up and running the mezzmo server just stopped for no apparent reason and now it keeps stopping from time to time. When I open up the software I get the error dialogue box which allows me to browse to the zipped crash-dump files and I have sent those off to conceiva support. I also installed Mezzmo v2.61 completely fresh install on another windows 7 PC x64 (my daughters PC) and exactly the same thing happens the server keeps stopping from time to time. Again I have sent off the crash dump files and waiting now to see if there is a patch released.

I did not have any of theses issues with v 2.5 so i guess it is the latest software perhaps running on windows 7 64 bit that is causing the issue but I do not have any other version of Windows that I can try (i.e. 32 bit edition) - just waiting to see what conceiva support say in the next few days.

Crashing for me too within a few seconds of starting Media Server - Windows Home Server 1.0 (based on Windows Server 2003) with AMD processor, so not just a Win7 or Intel issue :-(.

I am going to try to find the 2.5 I originally downloaded, but fear I have overlaid it with 2.6.1 ... my bad. Hopefully if no quick fix is made available 2.5 will be posted out so users can download and re-install it.

Paul ... In your post above you ask us to send emails to support [at] conceiva [dot] com ... I posted my crash dumps to you over the weekend, but received the following email today (I have left the email address as is, for you to see but you may want to alter this post later)

It appears my email may have been deferred or delayed by your mail server... If you do not get my mail can you also send me the mezzmo patch as my v2.61 of mezzmo also has the issue where the server randomly crashes/stops from time to time. Hopefully my email will get through eventually.

My email address is ken[at]ken-griffiths[dot]co[dot]uk

Thanks

I have installed the patch v2.6.1.1 you sent me, but a few moments ago the mezzmo server crashed whilst running a “user task” to maintain/update the MUSIC branch of my library. I am unable to email you the complete crash dump zip file as it is too large (32 meg), but I have emailed the error log and screenshot image from within the zip file. The crash.dmp file is 116meg unzipped?

I may have to ftp the file to you as the email system limits will not accept a 32 meg file.

Thanks for the follow-up, Ken. We have received your email & that information has helped. If you could put the zipped 32MB file on an filesharing site or an FTP site, that would be great. It will help us pinpoint the reason for the crash you are getting.

Sorry for your frustrations. Please contact us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com and we'll send you the patch.

I have posted my crash dump files on dropbox and sent Peter the links via email. It appears that I have a 'rogue' music file that is causing a divide by 0 issue and so I am checking my music files which are in an archive. Anyhow the patch sent out by support appears to have worked for me and the random crashes/stops of the mezzmo server appear to have been resolved. I will continue to do some more testing today to see if any other issues occur.

I have had minor trouble with the Sony Bravia KDL profile not quite syncing audio/video correctly with avi movies, but this is only occasionally and the problem also existed in v2.5 of mezzmo. I have posted the issue before and it is more than likely to be a firmware issue with the Sony TV KDL-40EX503. Again I have not thoroughly tested this and it is such a random event that it is difficult to reproduce. A stop/start of the movie re-syncs the audio/video and often sorts it for the remainder of the movie.
