View Full Version : Can't find ASL.dll or pthreadCV2.dll when trying to start media server

I can't find any info regarding this error in the forum by doing a search. I can't start media server becasuse I get the error saying that the above two files are missing.

I did a Google search which seemed to indicate that it was a faulty iTunes or Quicktime installation, (although what Mezzmo has to do with iTunes, I'm not sure). Anyway I completely uninstalled iTunes and Quicktime, then reinstalled with the latest versions. Mezzmo still comes back with the same error.

I have already sent log files to support@conceivia.com

Anyone know of a cure for this?

Allan

A few users have reported this problem with Mezzmo v2.6.x. It is related to the new Conceiva Error Reporting DLL ('CER.DLL') that we are now shipping with Mezzmo v2.6.x to help isolate problems when Mezzmo crashes. We are still investigating why these Safari/QuickTime/iTunes DLLs are being loaded on some people's computers but not on others people's computers (...we never load them). It appears that Apple is injecting their own error reporting DLLs into Windows system folders when you install their software.

For the moment, the workaround is to use Windows Explorer to go to the Mezzmo program folder and rename the 'CER.DLL' file to '_CER.DLL'. Make sure you have stopped your Mezzmo server and exited Mezzmo before doing this. This will get you up and running. If any user is still having problems, please contact us at supoprt [at] conceiva [dot] com and we'll help you out further.

I am having the same problem with Mezzmo. which started today when I was updated to iTunes 10.6.3.25. Now that I think about it iTunes got even clunkier then usual when I first installed Mezzmo and turned on scrobbling for iTunes files, play lists, and iOS devices. I tried reloading Mezzmo and I still was missing the 2 dll files. If you have a fix on the way I will wait for it. I use Asset UPnP for music streaming so I have a fall back. (running PC, XP Pro SP-3) :)

We will fix this in an upcoming version shortly. For any users experiencing it, as mentioned in this post, the workaround is as follows: Use Windows Explorer to go to the Mezzmo program folder and rename the 'CER.DLL' file to '_CER.DLL'. Make sure you have stopped your Mezzmo server and exited Mezzmo before doing this.

If any user is still having problems, please contact us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com and we'll help you out further.
