Dear support,

After updating Mezzmo from 2.5 to 2.6 I'm unable to play MKV files on my Samsung UE40B8000 TV. The TV displays the error message "Unsupported file format".
I've ran into this issues several times before, but with the last few updates it worked well except for this release.

Mezzmo recognizes the TV as a Samsung B, which should be the correct one. Using this profile it's able to play AVI files fine, but no MKV's. The same result with the Samsung A and Samsung B (Compatible) profile. With the Samsung C profile it doesn't recognize Mezzmo as a DLNA server at all.

An example of a file that I'm trying to play (FFMpeg info):

Can you please provide me an updated Samsung B profile file?

Thanks,

Hi Bart,

Try this: Please stop your Mezzmo server. Go to the Media Devices dialog and delete all your devices. Start your Mezzmo server again. Your TV should be re-listed in the Media Devices dialog. Set the device profile for it to "Samsung B" as before and try streaming the your video file.

If it still has the problem, then stop your Mezzmo server. Please turn on logging (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/419-FAQ-How-to-turn-on-diagnostic-logging) and restart your Mezzmo server. Try streaming the video file again, and once it fails, stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo. Zip up the logs and send them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.

Dear Paul,

Done and I've sent the logs.
The TV is correctly listed as the Samsung B, I don't have to change that.

This particular issues was related to permissions on the transcoding folder. Somehow Mezzmo lost permissions on it so I granted Everyone Full Control (which is more then enough...). After that I could play MKV files, but without subtitles. The TV shows that the movie has already reached it's end and when you take a close look at the beginning of the movie you see all the subs scrolling by in about 1 second.
I've send the log files about this transcoding issue back to support, so you can take a look at it. If you want me to try something, please let me know.

However, for me this case can be closed. After disabling transcoding I could play all files again incl. subtitles.

Thanks,
Bart

PS: It's the same issue I come acros every release every since I'm using Mezzmo (for a few years now). I'm pretty sure it's ffmpeg related ...

Hi Bengels

I just had a look at my transcoding folder... It has no permissions assigned and is owned by Administrator.

Maybe that is why you have a problem every upgrade. Maybe Paul can clarify what Mezzmo expects the permissions to be, or maybe they can be reset during an upgrade, especially considering that Mezzmo requires permissions to run?

Just a thought :-)

Hi Bart,

Thanks for letting us know how you fixed the issue. We'll re-check our installer to make sure that permissions are set correctly during a clean install and during an upgrade.
