View Full Version : .mp3 files (2) being picked up as video

This is a stumper...

I have a couple of .mp3 files that keep getting picked up as video. Funny thing is, they are not in the same folder as my videos (and I restrict the Video library to a separate partition that contains video).

I have tried re-tagging them, looked at the files in every way, and they are just garden variety .mp3 files on a completely separate partition from my Video.

I'm stuck here, because every time I either re-index all the content, or 'touch' the Video folder, they come back.

I thought perhaps my database(s) were corrupt, so I deleted them all and re-indexed everything, but no joy.

I am completely stuck.

Any ideas?

Hi

Have you tried looking at the ffMpeg output for the files? Not sure what to look for though, maybe compare to the other files and see if there is anything obviously different?

Not sure how to do that (ffmpeg output), the weird thing is they are in a folder that is exclusively music, and being picked up in a folder that is exclusively video... What I can't figure out is why they are there at all. I checked everything to make sure that Music is not indexed in the Video folder, and only Video is indexed in the Video folder, so the engine should not be putting them into a Video playlist at all. The only way I can get rid of them is to go through all the video playlists and delete them manually, but of course they come back on the next index.

Right-click on the MP3 file in Mezzmo and click 'Get FFmpeg Information'. Post the information here so we can see why the MP3 is being detected as a video file by Mezzmo.

Note that it is NOT a motion jpeg or anything like that, but a garden variety .mp3

Thanks

Note that this files' directory should not be indexed for anything other than Music, anyway, so even if there is aberrant metadata or something in the file(s) causing this, it should just be ignored, so I am at a loss. Thanks!

That is strange. FFmpeg is reporting that this file has two video streams (and no audio stream). Can you zip up the MP3 file and send it to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com? We'll analyze it here and make sure Mezzmo handles it correctly.

Just sent it. There is another file from the same album that has the issue. 2 files in my library is a very small percentage, but it is weird nonetheless and I would be glad to figure it out, as I cannot control the presence of it after a refresh scan, and can only go through and manually delete it from my video playlists manually after refreshes.
