Please post the FFmpeg information for both files and that may help us understand why. To do this, right-click on the file in Mezzmo and click 'Get FFmpeg Information'. Also, let us know the device profile that is assigned to your TV. Go to the Media Devices dialog in Mezzmo to see this.

this file transcodes and if i try to play it without transcoding it will play for 10 secs and then the audio gets out of sync

Please try this: In Mezzmo, go to the Media Devices dialog and edit your Samsung device listed there. In the Device Settings dialog, go to the Transcoding tab and turn off transcoding. Also on the Transcoding tab, delete all transcoded files for your device. Now, try streaming the two MKVs again to your Samsung BDP. Do they both play now? If they do, then contact us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com and we'll supply you with an updated device profile to try.
