I've noticed that URL Sniffer is way better at sniffing out URLs for videos played via Internet Explorer 9 than Chrome 18.

Is there some setting that I can change in Chrome to expose video URLs to the sniffer?

Thx in anticipation.

Hi,

There are no settings in chrome that will help sniffer find more videos. Do you have an example of a site that sniffing videos is working in IE9 but not chrome? If so, let me know and I will investigate further.

BTW, The next version of DownloadStudio will have an all new sniffing engine.

The example that prompted me to post is behind a paywall. I'll try to find another example and come back.

Cheers.

What's the timeline for the new version release?

Unfortunately can't give a solid timeline for the new version, hopefully it will be ready in a couple of months time.

Okay . . . here's an example.

The URL of the sample video (the mp4, not the player swf) at http://www.longtailvideo.com/players/ is picked up by the Sniffer when played in IE9 but not on Chrome 18

Thanks for the example.

Unfortunately it worked correctly on a couple of computers I tested it on, I was able to sniff the mp4 video url through both IE and Chrome. Are you seeing any urls from chrome being found in sniffer, or is it just some video files which are not being sniffed correctly?

It was the latest chrome version that I tested this with (20), but don't think the chrome version will be causing the issue.

I'm seeing plenty of URLs from Chrome in the Sniffer . . . just not mp4 and flv files (and not on all sites, but certainly the majority).

And again, when I don't see them in Chrome, I can often (but not always - some urls are encrypted) see them when browsing with IE

I don't have an answer as to the cause this issue on your system at the moment. Unfortunately I can only suggest using getting by with sniffing from IE, until DS version 8 is released.
