I have some .mkv files I am trying to view over an Arris whole home DVR player. The profile Mezzmo chose for this device (Moxi DVR) transcodes this video to mpeg2. The Arris media player says that it natively supports MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H264, and WMV. So, i guess I have two questions:
1) Why does the below file need to be transcoded since it is H264? and
2) Why does it only transcode at 4 FPS?

I have an Intel Q6600 quad-core 2.4GHz w/ 4 GB RAM. The CPU usage is between 60% - 70%, RAM usage is only at 25%, and disk write speed is under 1MB/s while transcoding. I would think that if one of these was the bottleneck it would be at 100% usage.

The FFMPEG info is below:
