View Full Version : Auto-Update stops Mezzmo working (until I restart it)

When Mezzmo wants to download an update, it stops working until I go into WHS and let it do the update. This means I have to boot up my laptop, log into WHS, etc. - which takes ages. Can I just disable the auto-update feature and manually search for updates? (It may not be the perfect solution but checking every couple of months would be much more convenient.)

I've checked the Mezzmo dashboard & the help files but there is no mention of how to disable auto-update.

Thanks for your help (& a great little programme),

Cheers,

There's no option to turn off checking for updates in the current version of Mezzmo. We'll add an option for this into the next version. I'll post back when it's ready.

Simply transcribe the file. Program Files/Conceiva/Mezzmo/Autoupdate.exe.org

Simply transcribe the file. Program Files/Conceiva/Mezzmo/Autoupdate.exe.org

That works, but it also means manually getting updates from time-to-time via Help -> Check For Updates will also not work.

I have no idea what 'transcribe' means in this context (delete?). How do you update without using Check for Updates? Assuming that this is straight forward, it would be okay - especially if I'd only have to to it once more because the next update includes the option to turn off the Auto-Udate.

Just to explain: steve12 suggested renaming the autoupdate.exe file in your Mezzmo program folder to another name so that Mezzmo cannot run it. This will stop the auto updating popping up when you start Mezzmo (Mezzmo always checks for updates when you run it), but my comment suggested that doing this would it would also stop you doing a manual check for updates using the Help menu (Check For Updates).

Anyway, don't worry - there will be a new checkbox option for this in the next version of Mezzmo.

Ah, I see. I don't think that renaming the file will be any help in this situation then. (If only because the problem is not related to starting Mezzmo per se, it is that Mezzmo simply stops working when updates are available and waits for me to install them & restart the programme.) What's needed is a way to stop Mezzmo checking whether updates are available, leaving users to click Check for Upates every now and then.

But since a lovely new checkbox is being inserted next time, everything's just kooshty. :D

Many thanks again Paul. You, and everyone at Concevia, seem to be a really nice bunch. Must be that famous Oz spirit... God bless it!
