I'm not sure how difficult this would be since I have no idea what tool chains you are using to write Mezzmo, however...

What are the chances that you could port Mezzmo over to Linux? We already know that ffmpeg, which is one of the underlying systems that Mezzmo uses for video works well with Linux.

I would be more than willing to be a guinea pig for that. In addition to Windows, I run multiple variants of Linux. Most commonly Fedora Linux and CentOS Linux (clone of Red Hat Enterprise Linux).

Thanks for the inquiry. We could port Mezzmo server across to Linux, but for the moment, we are concentrating on Windows. However, you will see Mezzmo on portable devices (tablets, smartphones) in the near future :)

I have inquiried about this around the same time the original post was made, according to the email reply. Conceiva has no plans for porting to linux for now or the future. If this has changed, which by your above post it looks like it might have, please let me know. A linux distro of mezzmo would make my world alot easier.

Here's an idea: I don't mind doing all of the work on the Windows side (creating playlists, retrieving the audio/video information for the stored music files, etc.), but I no longer leave my computer on like I used to. So unfortunately, I no longer use Mezzmo for streaming. What if there was just a small Linux "service" (daemon) for Mezzmo that was able to stream (like the service that runs on Win7/8) using the information in the Mezzmo database. I already store the media files on a NAS device, and can easily store the Mezzmo database there as well. In other words, I would not be interested in a full-fledged version of Mezzmo for the NAS, but just a small service to stream what I already have.

The other option is to see if there is an emulator small enough to run the Mezzmo service on the NAS...but I doubt it.

What is really sad is how far behind all of the other DLNA servers are. I really need to run my media from the NAS, and even the latest version of Twonky (7.1.2-Special) I just installed is totally lacking. And, it does not easily do on-the-fly or "intelligent" transcoding like Mezzmo.

Thanks for the suggestion, Rudy. It's a good idea and we've been recently discussing this exact topic (i.e. how people want to stream in their home). At the moment, nothing is planned for the short term, but we may do something in this area in the longer term.

I would also like to see NAS support I have a QNAP 879 NAS that I would love to see how mezzmo would run on it. If you guys need a beta tester let me know.
