hello,

i ve got quesetion about SRT files in mezzmo. I've got mezzmo 2.6.7.0 version and SRT files doesn't appear nowhere. i am 100% sure that subtitle file (SRT)is in the same folder as my video file and has the same filename - for example, "C:\MyMovies\inception.mkv" and "C:\MyMovies\inception.srt".

i also maintain my library but SRT files still don't appear in mezzmo.

Does anyone have similar problem? Can anyone advise what to do?

Hi jahbli,

You will not see the SRT files in the Mezzmo application - it only displays the videos, music and photos that you have added into your Mezzmo library. When you add your video files into your Mezzmo library and you have matching external subtitle files in the same folder, then Mezzmo will find these and add them into the Mezzmo database. When you stream the video file to your DLNA device, Mezzmo server will tell your DLNA device that there is an SRT file available and your DLNA will then request it (if it supports playing external subtitle files). What DLNA device do you have?

Panasonic Viera TV's are limited to displaying external subtitles only when you are streaming DivX (AVI) files to your TV. For all other video formats that you stream, you will not see subtitles. This is a limitation of the Viera's firmware. That may be reason that you are not seeing your subtitles.

Hi jahbli,

Sometimes you will not see subtitles if the external subtitle file cannot be read by your DLNA device. Reasons for not reading the external subtitle file may be the encoding of the subtitle file (e.g. UTF-8, etc.) is not supported by your device, or the subtitle file is not well formed (i.e. incorrectly written or corrupted in some way).

As a test, try copying a subtitle file that you know does work over the top of the one that does not work and try streaming the video now. If you see subtitles (even they are wrong), then that hints that there is something wrong with the original subtitle file. You may need to fix it or download another one for the movie. Let us know how you go.

Subtitles still doesn't work. I tried as u told (copying a subtitle file that you know does work over the top of the one that does not work and try streaming the video). i also download a few other subtitles for other movies and none of them show up when iam streaming the movie. Do you've got any other solution for this problem mybe?
best regards

Please post the FFmpeg information on the AVI file that does not display subtitles. To do this, right-click on the file in Mezzmo and click 'Get FFmpeg Information'. Then, post the FFmpeg information on an AVI file that does display subtitles (you previously mentioned that you do have subtitles working for some AVI files). We should see the difference in the two AVI files and that should provide a good hint as to why you are having problems with a particular AVI file.

Thanks for the FFmpeg information. The AVI file that is not working does have an extra audio stream (Stream #0:2: Audio: pcm_s16le). Please try removing this audio stream from the AVI file using one of your video tools and see if your Panasonic Viera TV will display the external subtitles now. Also, in Mezzmo, right-click on the AVI file and click 'Properties'. Go to the Transcoding tab in the Properties dialog and delete any transcoded files so that we make sure the AVI is delivered to your TV and not a transcoded file.
