Hi,

I downloaded the 15day trial mezzmo 1.1.2.0. Installed mezzmo server on my Windoze xp pro SP2 32-bit machine, 3.5Gb RAM, 550Gb Disk (couple 100Gb Free space).

Firstly - dont forget to start the UPnP windoze service or nothing works at all!

Problems are:

adding to library:
It has not been possible to reliably add anyhing to the library, mezzmo 'encounters a problem' and must close. So far I have added around 40 mp3, wmv and a few m4a files. It ALWAYS crashes adding large WAV (lossless rips using windoze media player 11) files. It ALWAYS crashes when adding VTS's.

streaming:
I use a Linksys (KiSS) 1600 dmr version 1 with firmware v1.1.17. After a reboot of the dmr, it locates the mezzmo server and talks to it to get the browsing hierarchy but it can never find any actual media. Is there something extra has to be done to get sharing to share content or is my UPnP device not compatible in some way perhaps?

I have been using Windoze mp 11 media sharing but the client device cannot reliably find the server so I gave up with that one. I switched to the very unix oriented kissdx as it can play DVD iso's as well as VOB's directly however it has no nice gui, so I'm constantly looking for something such as mezzmo! btw, both windoze mp and kissdx are disabled while mezzmo runs.

I enabled diagnostic logs and mezzmoservice traces that it sends the browse hierarchy but no evidence that I can see of it trying to access any content from the library. I wont post it here as its hundreds of lines long but I can get it if needed.

Hello,

If possible, can you please send one of those WAV files (or any other) that crash Mezzmo during import? It would help us to understand the nature of the problem better.

Also, if you can send in the diagnostic logs generated by Mezzmo service, perhaps we can see something that would suggest why you're not seeing any content.

Please use the support@conceiva.com e-mail address.

Hopefully we can resolve your problems.

Thank you.

Dennis

Hi Dennis,

all the other stuff you asked for is in an email yesterday. For info, I followed Tom's advice in http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php?t=15 and uninstalled all DIVX from my computer, re-installed xpcodecpack, then re-installed mezzmo and now I dont get any instability when importing to the library and playing in mezzmo - even imports video and those large wav's now.
When I look into the crash more closely, it was always faulting in divx.dll.

Still no content on the Linksys 1600 though - but it works fine on a PS3, strangely though it takes over 30 minutes for the content to be visible on the PS3 after it hooks up with mezzmo service.

Hi,

I will look into the problem with Linksys 1600, it should work ok. Can you please tell me which firmware version you have on the unit and if it's not the latest, can you please update it?

Also, I agree that it's a bit strange that it takes so long for the contents to show up on the PS3. Do you see anything on the PS3 right after connection to Mezzmo, like the icons with the loading status on them? Or you get empty folders and then, after a while, they start to populate?

Thank you.

Dennis

The Linksys 1600 has firmware v1.1.17 which is the latest version.
It's strange when I look at the log files, when the mezzmo player, or ps3 are browsing the folders, the log file indicates mezzzmoservice finds a number of files and reports it told the player how many - but in the case of the Linksys, it reports n found, 0 returned to player.
On the PS3 we just see empty folders and after some time, they appear populated. Almost as if PS3+Mezzmo gets over the problem the linksys has after everything has warmed up. Same trick soesnt work for Linksys, after leaving it on a browse node for 12 hours, still no content.

Hi Dennis,

thanks for the latest build you sent - it is working fine certainly for audio with the Linksys 1600. It's just the limited number of codecs in the Linksys itself that concern me next.

Thanks again for your help ... continuing to evaluate.

Re: the PS3, it might just be some weird performance issue in the PS3 itself. Whilst there is some delay on the Linksys 1600 bringing up lists of media when the list is large, it's only seconds compared to the tens of minutes on the PS3 from the same mezzmo server. However once the PS3 has managed to actually get some data, after that its fine.
