decoding DTS and AC3 streams

Is there a way to have Mezzmo not decode the AC3 and DTS audio streams so that my receiver will decode them? From what i can tell (and I may be completely wrong), it looks like mezzmo decodes the channels and then sends the audio as opposed to just decoding the video and keeping the AC3 or DTS channel intact. I have a windows 2008 server functioning as a media server and switch between mezzmo and ps3ms. I tried the same movie (a MKV) on both and the receiver detects DTS on ps3ms (because I have it set to send the stream) but with mezzmo, it just detects a multichannel audio signal. I was thinking it would be less overhead on the media server box if it didn't also have to decode the audio if A/V receiver could do it.

Mezzmo will keep your video and audio channels intact if your device supports those video and audio formats. Mezzmo knows if your device supports specific video and audio formats based on the device profile that you have assigned to your device in the Media Devices dialog in Mezzmo. It sounds like the wrong device profile may be assigned and that is causing the unnecessary transcoding. So, if you select the correct device profile, Mezzmo will keep your DTS & AC3 audio channels intact. Let us know two things to help you out:


What DLNA device (incl. model number) are you streaming to?
What is the FFmpeg information on the files that are getting transcoded by Mezzmo? Right-click on the file in Mezzmo and click 'Get FFmpeg Information'.

The setup is a PS3 that is connected to an Onkyo TX-NR5008 receiver via HDMI cable. The profile it is using is the PS3 profile. I will have to get you the ffmpeg info when I get home.

Sorry I let this drop but I am ready to pursue it now if we can. When I stream an MKV to my PS3 which is connected to a Onkyo receiver via HDMI 1.3 cable, the Onkyo detects the audio stream as 5.1. If I stream the exact same MKV using PS3MS, my receiver detects the audio stream as DTS. So because there are several factors involved, I'm not sure where to start, but I'd like to use Mezzmo and have as much of the native stream be transferred without transcoding which should mean less CPU on the media server. Also native DTS should be better sound than transcoded DTS although I do realize they will be similar. I have tried several options in mezzmo but nothing seems to make a difference and since the PS# doesn't natively recognize MKV, I can't turn off trancoding in Mezzmo 100%. Ideas?
